I have never been so disappointed with a hotel. Let's start with the fact that I paid almost $900 for this. First checking in was rather irritating. I understand that check in technically isn't until 4:00, however when your guest calls at 10 to let you know they're going to be really early I personally believe that their room should become a priority. When I called I was told the previous occupants had just checked out. I figured it would take about 2 hours to turn the room. I was able to do 'early check-in' which allowed me to go to the pool, but I wasn't able to check into the room until 3:50. I checked 3 times in-between to see if the room was ready. I watched people arrive hours after me and check in before me.
Once I finally got to my room I discovered that all the pictures on the website of beach facing balconies didn't apply to all the rooms. My room (#613) faces the backside of the building toward a sewage/swamp looking thing that smelled absolutely horrid in the morning. That was pretty disappointing seeing as how I feel I paid the price for at least a beach view. Also, when I went into the bathroom there was still a used bar of soap in the shower. That's just nasty.
I started reading the packet I received upon check in and learned that there was no towel exchange, no room service. I was responsible for taking the trash out to the chute, however the chute was out of order so they have giant trash bins next to it. One was over flowing. The trashcan next to the main elevator on my floor wasn't changed the entire week I was there. Not once during my stay did I see anyone vacuuming the halls, the carpets were beyond dirty.
This next thing may seem petty, but most of my disappointment is due to the price I paid vs what I actually got. The room had a small kitchen with a 2 burner stove and pots and pans but there was no cooking utensils. I ended up having to go back out to buy those so I could actually cook the food I had just bought. That's just the first day. The second night at 11:36 at night maintenance banged on the door. BANGED, not knocked. Fortunately this vacation was just me and my boyfriend and I didn't have my kids with me otherwise they would have been woken up. At 11:36 at night they had to come into my room to turn off the hot water to change a main line. The next morning they apparently came into my room without my permission while I was out on the balcony to turn it back on. That bothers me because I could have been getting dressed or something. And even though they turned the water back on I didn't have a hot shower for the rest of my stay, luke warm was the best I got.
Parking was an absolute nightmare due to the way the garage is built. There were huge pillars that you're expected to have no issues getting your car parked next to. Once you got to the end of the parking garage it just ended making it difficult to turn around without hitting any other cars, even in a small truck. Another thing that may seem trivial to some, there was no phone in the room so if I needed to call the front desk I had to go onto google on my iPhone to get the number and call.
Then when it came time for me to check out there wasn't even anyone at the front desk. Apparently the front desk is only open from 8a-6p. They had a number for security and I was told to just leave my room keys at the desk.
All in all, I will certainly never stay here again and I would never recommend anyone else to stay there. For the same price I paid I could have gotten either a studio or 1 bedroom at the Commodore which is actually on the beach and the balcony faces the beach and it not only has a full kitchen but washer and dryer in the unit. I wish I would have stuck with my usual spot. Never been so...
Read moreBeware of this place. Overall I enjoyed the View, space, and the Beach. The guest services I experienced was beyond horrible. We went as a family with kids on Spring Break. We booked our reservation 2 days prior to our trip and PAID IN FULL $811 for the 4 bedroom penthouse suite. We requested that we have early check in . We were told the request was noted and shouldn't be a problem and that we should call around noon once we arrived to make sure house keeping had taken care of the request. We called abt 30-45 mins to arriving at the property and was told by the front desk that housekeeping would be working on the unit as the prior guest checked out around 10:30am. We arrived at about 11:40AM and were given our parking passes for both cars. Then was told by the front desk manager that it would be a few minute because the unit was being inspected before we could go up. A few minutes became 2.5 hours as we waited in the lobby by the elevators with all all luggage on a cart. We had a total of 5 kids with us as well as an expectant mother. They couldve at least given us a courtesy to come back once unit was available. We went back and fourth several times to the front desk to inquire on the status of the room however being told housekeeping was still working in it. Again 30-45 prior to arriving housekeeping was working on the unit. So it seemed as though they had been working on the unit for almost 3 hours at this point. Once we finally checked in to the unit...it was still dirty. Found a prior guests sock, bread under the dresser and the carpet was extremely filthy. My 15 month old daughter had taken off her shoes and socks and after 10 mins or so the bottom of her feet were black from the flith in the carpet. We all decided not to walk around without shoes on from that point. Also for the price we paid the furniture and TVS in the unit were all old fashioned. The TVs are NOT FLAT screens they are box TVs. Ive stayed in cheaper hotels hotels that had more of a modern feel and paid 10x LESS. The 1st night we stayed the guests above threw beer cans and trash onto our balcony. Contacted front desk and was told we needed to go down and get security. We were on the 15th floor and were shocked security wouldn't come to us. Next day we went to beach and arriving back our front door was cracked open..also all patio furniture/chairs missing. Called front desk again and this time security came to us. We mentioned the night before and they assured us that they always come to the guest and if we had any other problems they gave us they're direct cell phone number. Later that night around mid-night the fire alarm went off and were forced to evacuate down 15 flights of stairs...with kids..and expectant mother...only to be told it was a false alarm. Next day 1 half of our party left around 8:30am...while other needed do late check out. Their card was charged $50 after they were already gone! It was my responsibility for the fee so my card shouldve been charged. Before leaving the property they never mentioned that the card had been charged. Had to call back over 10 times to reach someone and be told manager would call. Front desk manager actually hung up on me. I had to speak to another Manager at another property to get an email sent for the Property manager to call me. In the end the card was refunded and correct card charged. It has a Great View of the Beach which is across the street. Dont go during Spring Break you will be charged an extra $500 deposit before check in. We had that waived since we were a family...
Read moreI’d like to begin saying the Panama City Beach Origins is beautiful and has nice views (the strip, the beach, or the wetlands depending on your room). Our room was nice and fairly UTD. The bed was super comfortable! ||My family travel & vacation a lot , we are partially retired. We’ve stayed at every sort of place possible. Whether 5-star resorts, Airbnb’s, small/big motels, 1-star motels, campers and even farms. In all our years traveling the states and even different countries we had never experienced some of the nuances and things that made it to where we would not come back as we have here. ||Let me begin with pro’s:|- Great parking (parking garage. Ample space)|- Secure passcode parking |- Views|- Comfortable beds|- Heated & beautiful pool & hot tub||Cons:|- Registration/check-in is not set up well. Sign threatening to tow if you unload, load or park at the main door. Yet, you can’t get into parking garage until you register at the front. Somehow you’re supposed to park your car somewhere else then go in to register before going to retrieve your vehicle and family from said mystery location to bring back to park in the garage.|- Full kitchens w/o basic potholders, an ice cream scoop or a full set of measuring cups (we cook a lot). |- I guess we’ve been spoiled from prior facilities but there was no coffee, sugar or creamer to go w/the coffee machine , salt or pepper. These are normal staples that have become a normal staple we are| provided as part of our nightly rate.|- Toilet paper is limited. Sounds silly I know. However, We arrived to our suite having approx 1.25 small rolls for our 1 week w/a family of 5. After a couple days we requested another roll or 2 for our last 3 days and were told they don’t provide additional toilet paper and we’d have to buy our own. ($180.00+ a night and I have to buy my own toilet paper?). |- There is no security (like Loews Hotels elevators) toco trip only hotel guests into them and allow access to the entire facility/pool.|- Security seemingly has nothing to do but watch the cameras and harass well behaved paying customers. During our stay stay we witnessed security making one man playing his stereo quietly after asking everyone there for permission to turn it off or use headphones and explain it was a rule. Yet, the much older man whom I assumed was a resident was able to keep blowing an airhorn, which was much louder!|They enforced some rules while allowing others (ex. Airhorn senior & kids jumping off fountains or playing in hot tub). Keep in mind nothing was posted about no radios but their was about no kids under 12 in hot tub. ||Security and the rules are set in place and normally this is completely understandable. However, they are excessive here and make you feel like you’re in a prison… constantly being watched, judged and scrutinized.||Lastly, it was advertised that while I was here with my family that kids got to eat free at the restaurant across the road for free, with a paying adult. There was no number of days or limits stated. So you are led to believe this is a “bonus” for staying here and available for breakfasts and dinners during your entire stay. Only to find out it’s for 1 time only and a max of 3 kids.||Ultimately, good views and a comfortable bed you will receive. But expect to always have someone looking over your shoulder. Also, remember to bring your own coffee, salt/pepper, soaps &...
