Called ahead of time to confirm they had egusi and were open. They said they were so I made the 30 mins drive. I get there and immediately the smell of old grease and peppers hit me. I should turned around but my husband really wanted egusi. There was a young girl who can from the back and took my order. I ordered egusi and two meat pies. She told me ok and went back to the back. I waited for 20 mins thinking my food was being made until the actual cook who is her aunt showed up. After 25 mins I was told there were no meat pies. I said ok. Then there was no chicken, fine I’ll take goat. 45+ minutes later she comes back with a small take away box with egusi and pounded yam. The egusi had no leaves in it . All palm oil with egusi seeds tomato and pepper. Whatever. Hand the little girl my card and she holds on to it as she tells me there’s no cards only cash app and cash 🙃. Had I known that I wouldn’t have sat there for 45 mins for terrible food and service. $25 for small egusi and pounded yam....
Read moreThe food was good but way over priced for what we received. We ordered the Peanut butter soup with chicken. The chicken legs were pre-cooked (probably frozen) but the soup was very good. I would compare it to a curry order at other restaurants that go for about 12.00 -14.00. They asked us what we would like to drink and we just asked for glasses of water. They brought us bottled at 3.00 each. The food was good but they need to change their business strategy. Talked to them about how business was and they said they do about 20-30 orders a day most of them Grub Hub etc. With the quality of the food staying the same or better, they could be doing a couple hundred orders a day by re-structuring their menu pricing. Our little waitress needs more business to make it and I don't see them succeeding with their current business practices. I would really love to see them succeed because it is a great addition to the choices in...
Read moreThis place is overcharging for extremely small portions bc they know that no customers will return. Let me explain, there is no reason that the food taste spoiled and the portion is equivalent to one ladle. How do I pay $25 for an entree that is inedible?
This is my second review. I am choosing to be more kind with my wording. Please do not pay the extraordinary amounts of money that this restaurant charges for their below quality food. I ordered egusi, ogbono, moi moi, and suya. This cost me over $70. I have never been to a restaurant where the food I was given was not edible. I am saying that I had a physical reaction to the food which makes me believe it was expired/old. Nothing I ate. Nothing I ate taste fresh whatsoever.
I will not leave unless on a positive note. The staff is fine. The music and vibe is good. Maybe open up as a bar with bar foods like suya only and call Afrikan version of...
