The best thing about Eddie Vs is definitely the ambience and service. The bar service is really good especially considering the crew is very young. Eddie Vs has made some incredible business decisions. They bought out Legal Seafoods real estate space in Garden State which is an incredible frontside unit. The entire design of the restaurant from complete interior to the exterior front door looks very high end. Unfortunately, the menu needs some major, major improvements. The prices are high; which is fine, if the value is properly matched by the quality and portions of the food. The quality of many of the food items need a major upgrade if this restaurant wants to flourish. The salads unfortunately are terrible. The Wedge salad looks more like a middle school cafeteria salad. A wedge at Ruth Chris compared to a wedge at Eddie Vs is like eating on a cruise vs being sent to prison. Another visit I had a Caesar, which when they brought it out I thought it was either a joke or the salad was for somebody else. It looked like somebody just chopped up some romaine from ShopRite and literally poured some ShopRite brand house dressing on it. I couldn’t believe the salads this restaurant serves. Their lobster bites on the Happy Hour menu were 5 very small, very doughy bites with very, very little lobster, and almost no taste. The menu item carries extremely little value for $19, it’s surprising the item exists in general. Their shrimp with lump crab was alright, however the shrimp had the fishiest taste of any shrimp I’ve ever had, and it was not a pleasurable taste by any means. As for the salads, lobster bites, and shrimp with lump crab, I would never orders those again. Their crab cake for $28 is alright. The portion size is fine; lots of crab meat, however, the taste is somewhat lacking as well. It really needs a boost with some additional seasoning. The salmon for $43 was extremely close to being sent back to the kitchen. It is certainly no more than 8oz. and literally tastes like it’s simply glazed with a store bought teriyaki sauce. It was honestly terrible, and served with a very small amount of carrots and spinach. The only winner out of all these menu items were the filet mignon sliders, 2 for $11. 2oz on each slider, and they were very good. Given the location and ambience of the restaurant I was surprised at how low the traffic inside has been all 3 visits, and it’s definitely from the poor value of the menu. Looks like they are knee deep in their menu and ways of the restaurant in general so unfortunately I don’t see them giving the menu the severe updates and...
Read moreWe decided to try out Eddie V's because like to listen to music and this was close to our house. We found seats at the bar not more than 25 feet from the musicians. Yet we could hardly hear than. This is clearly an up scale restaurant of which I've been to many. Waiters wear white tuxedo jackets, LOL, a throwback to older times. The bar sat about 20 people. Some were eating and some were there waiting for a table. The two young bartenders were constantly making drinks for the restaurant and the people at the bar. It took 20 minutes to get the attention of one of them. We got a menu and ordered drinks. It took almost 15 min before we got the drinks. It took another 20-30 min before we got the attention of one of the bartenders to take our order. We ordered roasted shrimp with crabmeat as an entree with a side of lobster mashed potatoes and a second side of asparagus. They were served in about 15 minutes. The presentation was nice. 4 jumbo shrimp had a ball of crabmeat on top of each of them. A very thin layer of butter sauce surrounded them. A small green spice sprig was on the plate as garnish. The problem was that the shrimp were dry, likely reheated, and had little flavor. The crabmeat was good but also dry and with little flavor, likely reheated as well. The presentation of the asparagus was nice but plain. The bottoms were cleaned to remove the fibrous skin. Again, little flavor. I noticed that the kitchen forgot a small bowl of accompanying sauce which our neighbor got. The kitchen forgot ours. The highlight of the meal was the lobster potatoes. There were about 5 pieces of lobster with a nicely flavored sauce on top of homemade mashed potatoes. That dude fish is a little pricey but worth it! However, We have no plans to go back. What we could hear off the music was great, it was a three piece jazz band with a great repertoire. The band was stuck in a corner with poor acoustics. The nose level of the diners was high overshadowing the band. For an upscale restaurant, the food was at best so-so(except for the lobster mashed potato side dish. The service at the bar was abysmal. I can't blame the bartenders as they were too busy to take care of the people at the bar. This was clearly a...
Read moreI chose Eddie V's Prime Seafood for a special graduation dinner for my girlfriend on a Friday night, and it turned out to be an excellent choice. The restaurant was decently packed, adding to the lively yet modern and intimate ambiance, perfect for both date nights and family celebrations.
The evening started on a high note with thoughtful touches: a congratulations card, a rose, and confetti on our table, as per my reservation notes. My girlfriend was delighted by this surprise.
We began with drinks: I had the Smoked Old Fashioned, which was strong and perfectly balanced with a delightful smoky flavor. My girlfriend enjoyed the 24 Karat cocktail, a sweet and smooth drink that complemented the Old Fashioned well. We also tried the Pomegranate Mule, a refreshing and sweet twist on the classic Moscow Mule, light and perfect for a summer day.
For appetizers, we had the Maine Lobster Tacos and the Ahi Tuna Tartare. The lobster tacos were sublime; my girlfriend adored them and declared them her favorite dish of the night. The tuna tartare was flavorful, with the avocado base enhancing the dish beautifully.
For entrees, I ordered the 16oz Sirloin cooked medium, but it arrived rare and too chewy for my taste, despite being well-seasoned. In contrast, the Misoyaki Butterfish was phenomenal—the best seafood dish I've ever had, with perfect texture and flavor.
We ordered the Lobster Mashed Potatoes and the Crab Stuffed Shrimp as sides. Both were delicious, with the mashed potatoes containing just a tad too much cheese, though still enjoyable.
Dessert was a treat: the crème brûlée was standard but well-executed, while the Banana Foster Cake stole the show with its table-side presentation and a special congratulatory message for my girlfriend. It was buttery, sweet, and absolutely delightful.
Service was top-notch, with our server Khaliun (Luna) making our first visit memorable. She checked in on us regularly, engaged in friendly conversation, and even took pictures for us. Her warm and attentive service was a highlight of the evening.
Overall, Eddie V's provided an exceptional dining experience, and we will definitely be returning. I highly recommend asking for Luna on your visit for an...
