Southern Maid Donuts — Restaurant in Paris

I stopped at Southern Maid Donuts late on a Sunday morning with my wife and son and bought a cake donut, cinnamon roll, glazed donut, and a frosted sprinkle donut, all for only $5 as a fun snack. I was hoping to find an awesome donut shop in Paris, TX, but alas, that was not the case. While the prices were great and the staff was friendly, the donuts were average at best. The cake donut was very soft, bordering on underdone. The cinnamon roll was pretty tasty, basically a glazed donut loaded up with cinnamon. My wife had a glazed donut, which she said was fine. My young son devoured his frosted sprinkle donut- he was definitely the happiest of our group.

I'm hoping that we just caught the shop on a bad donut day. If nothing else, the donuts are cheap and plentiful. We ate in, but there is a handy drivethru if you need a quick donut. Credit is accepted for...

This place is an absolute gem! Every time I stop by, I’m blown away by how fresh and delicious everything is. The kolache is easily my favorite—perfectly soft, flavorful, and so satisfying that I find myself craving it all the time. And the maple donut? Hands down one of the best I’ve ever had. The glaze has the perfect balance of sweetness without being overwhelming, and the donut itself is pillowy and light.

The staff is always warm and welcoming, and the shop has that cozy, inviting feel that makes you want to linger a little longer. Definitely my go-to spot whenever I’m in the mood for something sweet (or savory)....

Clean - but tired - customer counter, dining area, & unisex restroom. Kind, helpful, & efficient waitstaff. Steady foot traffic. In the Williamsburg Shopping Center at the corner of 16th & Lamar Ave. Plenty of parking in a big corner lot w/ EZAccess to drive-thru. 3 tables for dining in. Late in the morning there's not a big selection, but the jalapeño kolaches are exceptionally good👍, & well... nasty coffee👎.
