Charry’s — Restaurant in Passaic

I have been meaning to try this place for awhile, I finally went in last night and was greeted with a smile even though they were close to closing. I ordered half a chicken with tostones and a salad. What a nice surprise when I went home and sat down to eat! Unlike other pollo a la brasa that I’ve had, the skin on the chicken was nice and crispy. The meat was juicy, especially the pechuga and it was packed with flavor. It doesn’t stop there; usually when I order tostones I get disappointed because they’re always so thick and aren’t crispy, but I always have hope. Their tostones were the perfect size and nice and thin so when you bite them it has that perfect crunch. The cabbage salad was also good, dressed with the right amount of vinegar. Sábado por la noche decidimos probar este lugar para cenar, y aunque la comida fue deliciosa, nuestra experiencia estuvo empañada por un detalle muy desagradable relacionado con la cuenta y la propina.

El pollo que comimos estaba riquísimo y la atención fue excelente, sobre todo por parte de un señor con el pelo canoso y algo de sobrepeso, quien nos atendió de manera muy amable. Sin embargo, cuando llegó el momento de pagar, notamos algo extraño. Pedimos la cuenta, pero en lugar de darnos un recibo detallado, el señor simplemente nos dijo el total de la cuenta, sin aclarar que ya incluía la propina. Lo más confuso vino después, cuando pagamos con Apple Pay: el recibo que salió sugería que debíamos agregar más propina.

Le pedí al señor un recibo detallado del costo de la comida, y me respondió que ya lo tenía en la mano, pero lo que yo quería era un desglose de la cuenta. Finalmente, me lo imprimió, pero ya había un sentimiento de incomodidad. Le dejé $10 de propina y me fui. Fue al salir, ya en mi carro, cuando me di cuenta que había dejado una propina mucho mayor de la que pensaba, ya que la propina ya estaba incluida en el total de la cuenta.

Esto me dejó una sensación de ser engañado, y la verdad, me siento defraudado por la forma en que manejaron la cuenta. Por este motivo, no volveré a este lugar. Es una pena, porque la comida y la atención eran buenas, pero la falta de transparencia en el cobro me hizo perder toda la confianza...
