Updated in March 2024:
Qdoba discontinued wheat tortillas, so I haven't visited there for a long time. I've switched to other restaurants because they stopped serving what I liked, and downscaled my review accordingly.
Updated in September 2023:
This review has changed because Qdoba reverted its menu and now has the items I complained about below again.
Though the food is exceptional when it is correct, the restaurant does not receive five stars because there are still too many order inaccuracies. The portion sizes are too inconsistent for days when I work out, so I have to order pizzas from Domino's on those days because Domino's has never had a single order accuracy problem. This takes them down to four.
This is an older review below:
Qdoba's rewards program indicates I ate at Qdoba over 300 times, but Qdoba has continued to discontinue its best menu items in 2021. In October, I finally switched permanently to Moe's and won't be back unless some of the items are reinstated.
Qdoba started with changing its hot and medium green salsas so that the hot salsa has more barbeque sauce in it, and the green salsa is now watery. They added roasted tomato salsa, which has no flavor. Then, to add insult to injury, they removed the salsa roja, the best flavor of them all.
Next, they discontinued corn, one of the key items that I put in my quesadillas. Moe's and Chipolte continue to offer corn. I was able to buy salsa at the grocery store and did so for a while, but I'm not going to start buying corn too.
It seems that every month, Qdoba has continued to offer less and less value until I finally gave up. I celebrated the opening of this Qdoba on Atherton street because I wouldn't have to travel downtown to eat there anymore. It's a shame that what I once thought was the best fast casual restaurant in the country has deteriorated so much that I can't go...
Read moreThe food is good, and the service is generally good as well. I only advise you to be cautious ordering online. They're still working out the kinks, which has led to waiting for the food, long past due, more often than not.
Edit: okay. Simply don't order online. Just don't. I have done it five times so far, and only once have I received my food without incident.
The first two times, the food wasn't ready on time. Both times they proceeded to serve customers in line (who had technically ordered ten to fifteen minutes after me) before even starting my already late order. The first time I watched this happen for ten minutes before complaining, which got them to finally start my order.
The third time, everything was fine.
The fourth time, it was a slow Tuesday, and the rice in my burrito bowl had clearly been sitting around for way too long. This order was takeout so I just ate my unappetizing crunchy brown rice instead of going back to get it fixed.
Today I ordered a salad and got a burrito bowl. Doesn't seem like a big deal, unless you watch what you eat. Again, takeout, so I wasn't about to drive back to get the order corrected. I ate half of it and made myself some vegetables at home.
Seriously, Qdoba N Atherton. Get your act together.
Edit: act gotten together. Haven't had any issues with an order in...
Read moreThis was my 1st time at Qboda, absolutely pleasantly surprised. I never knew what the restaurant was - was it fast food, was it sitdown, &/or take out? Obviouly, it's Mexican - basically it's a Mexican "Subway" with a while lot more choices of ingredients. - You walk down a counter and you tell the person how to build your burrito, or taco, or whatever. They also have some preselected specialities, which they make while you watch. I was there with a work buddy during lunch. I had 1 of the "specialties" & my buddy had his built from scratch. The food was good, fresh, had texture, amazing flavor and since it is pick & choose was large. Now that I have experienced it - I would go back & recommend that at least you give it a try - I don't think you will disappointed. Each of us the meal w/drink was...
