I don’t usually leave long reviews but last nights dinner was the worst I have had in a LONG time. I would not recommend Kobe to anyone.
We waited 30 minutes for a table which wasn’t terrible, that was expected but once we were seated (2 adults, 2 teenagers, a child and a toddler), our drink orders weren’t taken for 15 minutes. A family of 4 was seated with us. (2 adults and 2 teens). By the time the waitress arrived and asked for drink orders, I kindly said “I think we’re actually ready to place food orders as well if that’s ok!” So we did that. Salads and soup arrived at same time. Salads without dressing, which is fine. She forgot it and brought cups of it to us. Chef arrived shortly after. He had to have been new. He mixed up several orders while calling them out, finally realizing he had the sheet backwards or upside down or something was written incorrectly? It took FOREVER for food to be prepared. I have never experienced it coming out the way it did. Rice was horribly bland. One of our teens likes to mix his rice and chicken together to eat so by the time he got his chicken, the rice was cold. The chef knocked over one of the teens water that spilled all over the table. Took about 5 minutes to get extra napkins to help clean it up. Food was not the quality we have had in the past. I could not get over how long it took for all the food to be prepared. We ended up being sat for about an hour and a half. I was so hungry and actually finished my rice before my entree was prepared.
When we get our checks- it already had a “party gratuity charge” tip added. I have never had that added to my check before under a party of 8 so I’m not sure if that’s a new rule or what seeing that we only had 6 people (one being a toddler who didn’t even get anything but ate some of our rice). It was very annoying to have that put on there like they expected not to get a good tip, because they already knew how bad the service and experience was. That doesn’t mean we just don’t tip. I understand this is people’s livelihood and will always tip at least 20% no matter what. If the service is great, it will be more. Just another annoying piece of the night.
Wouldn’t recommend going. Definitely won’t be back. The atmosphere has changed tremendously and it’s not...
Read moreWe decided to come down to celebrate Father's Day early and have a fun hibachi meal. It started out great with drinks at the bar and then went downhill from when we sat at the grill. Our server, Parrish, seemed pleasant at first, but he really didn't care about our table or at least my half of it. There were multiple times that could've gotten us another drink or asked us how everything was but was too busy hanging out with the other servers. I never knew the chef's name, but that's not what I am writing this for. Usually when people go to hibachi they are going for a show and a delicious meal. This particular chef was straight to the point and cooked the food. No egg "roll" or onion "train" or any kind of flare or fun; whatever, we just wanted a good meal too. Now, for the worst part, the chef never asked about allergies or food sensitivities. He made everything, and it turns out I got a piece of salmon with my chicken. I probably should have mentioned that I have a sensitivity to fish, but knowing what I ordered and never having an issue before at other Hibachi restaurants, I didn't think it would be an issue. So as I took a bite of my food, for what I thought was chicken, I discovered a piece of salmon. Immediately spit it out and ran to the bathroom before I got sick and to rinse my mouth out. I was nauseous for the remainder of the day. Now, this is the point of the story where the server could've checked in but never did. Finally, he showed up with our checks and messed that up as well. At this point, I'm writing off this restaurant and never to return. I wish they could've corrected the issue then and there, but it was supposed to be a fun celebration, and I wasn't going to make more of a to-do about it than I already did. I just hope this review helps them learn from their mistakes and hold their team to higher standards going forward. Kudos to the bartenders though. They were fantastic and attentive while we were waiting. The only reason I didn't mark this...
Read moreMy family has loved to come here for lunch for years now. However, the service has just gotten really bad and slow. On the upside, the food is always delicious and fresh. The last visit we had here though...we were really turned off to returning. At the end of our meal, the waitress didn't seem in a hurry to bring receipts. Everyone had packed away their leftovers and we were waiting patiently just chatting amongst ourselves. Someone finally stopped the waitress to request checks and she immediately told us the system was down and we'd all have to pay cash. So, everyone just looked at her silently, before she went and grabbed a young man who introduced himself as the manager. He explained again, while handing us hand-written receipts, that their computer system was down and that we had to pay cash. When someone said, "Well, I only have a card," he said he'd give us 10% off our tickets for the hassle. He even suggested we leave our card information, and they'd run it after the system was up and running. Nobody was going to let that happen! My husband, along with 2 other guests, had to leave the restaurant, drive to an atm or store nearby to get cash and bring it back. At the same time, our waitress was irritated that she had to stay past closing, because her ride home was outside. I think we all would have been more understanding, if we were informed sooner about the system problem, instead of waiting for us all to eat, pack up leftovers, and sit around waiting for a check. Also, considering we were the last party in the building before closing. I don't believe comping 6 lunch entrees would have really put a dent in their bottom line. My husband refuses to go back, because that 10% wasn't really worth me having to sit there for 20 mins, while he left to go get cash. We eat out a lot and tend to be very patient, but after having slow, inattentive service the few times before that, it was kind of just...
