I went to Michael’s the Saturday after Thanksgiving for some of the doorbuster deals! I had just been engaged and I was excited to make invites on my Cricut and buy recollections paper. As I was in the check out line, hoping to use my 25% off everything coupon, the cashier told me it wasn’t valid since it was only valid “in store” until noon and it was about 3 pm when I was checking out. Since I hadn’t realized that before I came all the way out there to go shopping, I asked to speak to a manager to see what she could do since I had already shopped for everything I needed. The manager, Christie(?), saw my purchases and told me to ring my order up on line, go waste 20 minutes so the order could “come in on the machine,” and then I could “pick up” my “online” order using the 25% off coupon. I said ok (thinking ugh at least I can get my 25% off if I stand here and scan all my items in myself)... As I began ringing up my own items, I could not find some of the items I was literally holding in my hand using the app OR the website. Thankfully, an associate, Emerald, came up and helped me out. She quickly and capably took charge of the situation, calmed my nerves, and rang me up using the 25% off everything coupon. Funniest part — recollections line was not even covered under the coupon! If only Christie had caught that, done her best to take care of me as the customer, apply the 25% off coupon, or at the very least not make me ring up all my “online” items myself, the returning Michael’s customer. Worst experience at Michael’s, and as a former associate I was displeased with the manager’s and first cashier’s service. They basically told me my time was not worth them helping me out. What is frustrating is how asinine it is for Christie to have wasted her own time, her own associate’s time ringing me up and then voiding it, and then going so far as to waste their time in the future by having an associate complete my “online order.” Another example of incompetent managers treating policy as if it were law, let alone a poorly advertised coupon policy. Thank goodness Emerald saved the day and made me feel like a...
Read moreI really don’t like generational spats, but I have to address the very entitled young man who checked me out today while I was the only one attempting to make a purchase. I believe that I was the only customer in the store, and it was ninety minutes before closing. He was a corpulent fellow who wanted to show me how I could check out. I never chose the option of self checkout. So…. what was he planning on doing while I checked myself out? Oh, yeah! Go back to playing on your cellphone yet again? I told him that I wasn’t a fan of self-checkout. He said he could show me how. Show me how? How about do YOUR job before AI gets that too. After he scanned the items, he gingerly walked off without saying one word or giving me a receipt. I removed my receipt from the machine while he played on his cellphone again. One of the flowers that I purchased was falling apart during the checkout process. This lazy overweight jerk picked the broken pieces off the floor and threw them in the bag. Those flowers were for my mother’s grave. Before I left the register he had moved far down to the opposite end. I asked him if we were done. He said yes if you got your receipt from the register. Once again, he was on the phone making some multimillion dollar deal. For some odd reason, he was very impressed with himself.May he forever be doomed to keep that career path for the next forty years. Just maybe he was ordering Ozempic….how rude, dismissive,...
Read moreWith Joanne's going out of business and Hobby Lobby's controversial corporate policies, Michaels is really the only game in town for craft supplies.... They have a limited amount of material for making clothing or costumes. Always a great place to go for seasonal decor and crafts. If you're into making jewelry they have a huge selection. They have a good customer rewards program. With a offer online discounts you can order for pickup while you swing by to buy the things that are 60% off in the store. There's always a sale so I shop those and use their discount off of a retail when I buy things like mod podge or paints that typically...
