Today, my daughter and I visited the T.J.Maxx in Peachtree City, a store we usually enjoy. Unfortunately, our experience left us deeply disappointed.
While shopping in the jewelry section, we approached the counter and noticed that no one neither staff nor customers was present. I asked my daughter to wait at the counter while I went to the fitting room area to ask for assistance. The associate there kindly called for help. After about 10 minutes, a group of 4 women arrived at the jewelry counter and stood on the opposite side from where my daughter and I were waiting.
Eventually, a sales associate named Karima, whose name tag was visible, arrived with keys. Without acknowledging us, she walked directly past my daughter and me and went over to assist the group of women who had just arrived. I called out “Excuse me, Miss” two times, trying to get her attention. She clearly heard me others nearby even turned to see who I was speaking to but she completely ignored me and continued helping the other group.
Feeling disregarded, I returned to the fitting room area to explain the situation to the associate there. Before I could fully explain, another customer who had overheard everything stepped in and confirmed, “I heard her she did try to get her attention twice, and she was ignored.” The fitting room associate then approached Karima and informed her that I had been waiting first.
Karima eventually came over to help me. She apologized and thanked me for my patience, but stated, “It’s hard to tell who was first at the counter.” I disagree it's not that difficult if you simply ASK.
While I did complete my purchase, I left feeling unheard, unappreciated, and disrespected. Karima’s apology did not feel sincere, and the overall handling of the situation was unacceptable. I hope this location considers training staff on managing high traffic service counters fairly and equitably. Based on this experience, I no longer feel comfortable shopping at the TJ MAXX Peachtree...
Read moreJust left this place and decided not to buy a bamboo candle pillar set. It was only marked with one price tag but the “coordinator” Maya had claimed that they were priced separately. I had to ask multiple times for the price of the other 2 of the three before I could get her to start checking. Maya was incredibly rude and unprofessional and was also verbally rude to a coworker while I was standing in front of her at the register. I only know that Maya is a coordinator because she had to state that she was like it made any difference, but quite frankly her attitude and demeanor is highly lacking of any leadership skills whatsoever. The managers who assisted (Cindy and whatever Debi’s title is) were hardly helpful and incredibly dismissive and it took asking multiple times of them as well to get any sort of movement to assist. It is quite clear that customer service at this store is of the lowest priority. If anyone in corporate is reading this, this interaction is a significant opportunity for coaching as these employees do not know how to treat customers or how to speak to them. Additionally, when I had pointed out that Maya’s behavior was making the whole interaction weird and uncomfortable, she proceeded to talk about the interaction with me involved under her breath to another coworker while I was right in front of her and could hear her clearly. After waiting a long time, I decided not to purchase due to the embarrassing and shameful attitudes of these employees. Businesses are already hurting these days, TJ Maxx...
Read moreI was in the TJ Maxx/Home Goods in Peachtree City yesterday around 4:00 and I found something unique for my sister for a Christmas present. I was so excited about it. The lines were really long, I stood in line for about 20-30 minutes. When they said cashier #7 was open, I started walking in that direction. However, cashier number #5 opened as I was walking by, so I stopped there. The cashier just looked at me and asked me where did I come from. I told her I was in line and I was headed to #7 when her register opened. She told me I was wrong for coming to her register and I should have followed the protocol. She said when customers don't go to the correct register, the other customers are confused. I told her cashier #7's light was not even on. She said, well there is still someone there. So I asked her if I needed to go to that register. I was just trying to pay for my item and leave. At that point I was getting irritated because I didn't come to the store to get a lecture. All they had to do was announce that #7 was still open if there was a problem. I have shopped at TJ Maxx since the store opened and I have never been confused as to which register to go to. Also I have never had an employee lecture me in the store. Especially after I stood in line for a long time. If I had not found that item for my sister, I would have told her I didn't want it and left the store. I just thought she was very rude. At this point, I don't even want to go back...
