El Sombrero of Crossgates — Restaurant in Pearl

Came here to enjoy ourselves sit down waiting for 45 minutes to an hour got served after another another table came in didn't say anything try to enjoy the atmosphere her friend ordered two margaritas and two shots, and ordered her food today my other friend ordered a happy plate and lemonade and a large cheese, and I order a happy plates with extra meat with sweet and a small cheese.so they set back watching us the whole entire time customer service was sad and poor the only time they really came to the table when they bomb rush the table after i ask for 2 togo cups and to go plates thinking my friend was about to use the cups for her Margarita which we wasn't we use the cups for the sweet tea and the lemonade they didn't got mad and had other customers racially profiling Us in the restaurant so once we went to pay for our order one of our friends went to the car to go grab her cash out of the car the manager are the other guy ran behind the truck to take a picture of the tag when she was only getting her money out she came back in the store and we were still in the store paying for our items and he was threatening to call the cops it was just a whole bunch of mess unprofessional don't never use this restaurant they don't care for color people I have never in my life experienced this way at a restaurant and to be embarrassed and the...

I’ve always been a die-hard fan of the Flowood location. My grandparents and I frequent the Crossgates restaurant and over the last couple of years, the quality has changed immensely. It breaks my heart to dislike any El Sombrero. Maybe the franchise has changed owners? I don’t know. I do know that the salsa has changed to an overly peppered marinara pasta sauce flavored liquid. Anytime I get steak in any form (tacos al carbon, steak quesadilla, fajita or burrito), the meat is cooked so long that it is literally crunchy every single time - I’m not exaggerating in any way. Lately, the bottom of the plate will have at least 1/4” of grease. Sometimes to-go takes forever to be ready when there is only one or two diners eating inside. Also, the older lady behind the counter when you walk in: she is friendly and never rude…but she stays on her phone and watches Facebook videos loudly - which, as you can imagine, gets aggravating when you’ve been standing in the lobby for 15-20 minutes and wonder if they’ve forgotten that you’re standing there. When I ask her if everything is alright, she replies a simple yes, says the food will be out soon and goes right back to Facebook...

This was once one of my families favorite Mexican restaurants up until a few months ago. We’ve had several terrible experiences when coming here and it’s all been with the same server. Unfortunately I don’t know his name but he typically works the back seating area. He is one of the rudest servers I have ever experienced at any restaurant I’ve been too. Our last visit will be our last one ever and we will not return to dine in, because of how rude he was. Rushing us to order and not asking if we were done ordering, just assuming and walking off. Placing our drinks at the end of the table without acknowledging who the drink was for. Not coming back to the table after bringing us the food to make sure we had everything we wanted and checking if the food was prepared correctly. The only time we saw the waiter was when he took our order, brought the food out and gave us the check. We have had this waiter I think 3 different times and he’s done this every time.
