⭐️ Not a review for their cat cafe, but a review for their rescue/adoption agency regarding their transport to the East Coast for adopted animals⭐️
After a lot of searching and a very negative experience attempting to adopt from a different Houston, TX area rescue, I adopted my sweet tortie kitten from this rescue in August 2025. I found this rescue searching for a kitten on PetFinder. Their adoption application, found on their website with instructions, was thorough but straightforward and easy to complete. I was contacted by an adoption coordinator, Abigail, via text promptly after submitting my application. The coordinator was very helpful and explained their adoption and transport process and walked me through the steps to complete and finalize my adoption online. The coordinator was also able to answer specific questions about the kitten regarding temperament, litter habits, etc. I was put in contact with the kitten’s foster meowther, Jen, via text who also was helpful in providing information about the kitten, her preferences, and what food she is being fed in foster care. I received my kitten’s medical record electronically prior to transport and also in-person with her when I picked her up in Enfield, Connecticut. She had received all age appropriate vaccines and was spayed and microchipped prior to transport from Texas. She arrived to me in healthy condition. I did bring her to my vet for a wellness visit and she was given a clean bill of health. The adoption fee I paid for my kitten was beyond fair considering the thorough care and medical attention she received while in foster care. For the transport process, I was added to a group message for adopters of animals on the same transport. In the group chat adopters were provided various information prior to and during the transport of the animals. I was added to the transport group on Life360 app on the day the van left Houston for the east coast and was able to watch the van travel via the Life360 app. The coordinators were communicative in the group chat about updates to pick up times as the van grew closer to our stop. The transporters also provided some photos and updates about animals that were added to the group chat. At the physical pick up location, the transporters were friendly and efficient in getting the animals to their adopters. I am happy I chose to adopt through Lone Star Pawz Rescue. I recommend them for anyone considering adopting a pet from a southern state like Texas where animal overpopulation is a crisis.

Read moreI don’t typically leave reviews like this but I feel people should be aware of this foster group and if you have issues with them. And if I could leave zero stars I would.
It all started when we brought our cat home from the most recent transport trip just this past Friday. We brought her home and she wouldn’t leave her carrier, which we expected with getting a new cat. Saturday she finally left the carrier and it was Saturday night we found out our cat had fleas because I could finally wipe her down with a scent wipe to help integrate her better into our home. (pics below of the wipe itself). Thankfully she’s only been contained to a hardwood spare bathroom this whole time so my home shouldn’t be riddled with fleas. But imagine if we hadn’t found out sooner? My house and my other cat could have been seriously affected by this.
Well don’t bother to contact the rescue about it to them because they’ll just tell you because your pet cleared a vet appointment for travel approval, there’s no issue and won’t even give a partial refund for the stress and potential issue that could have been for you. Even try to say that they’ll just take the cat back for a partial refund so you don’t have to deal with the fleas anymore. When that’s not what I was trying to tell them, I just wanted to let them know that we’re probably not the only ones with flea infested pets now at this point and that the transport methods need to be changed. TAKE ACCOUNTABILITY AND DONT IGNORE PEOPLE AFTER BRINGING A SERIOUS CONCERN TO YOUR ATTENTION!!
I recommend trying adoption...
Read moreLone Star Pawz is a great place to adopt a pet. I live all the way on Long Island in New York and it was so hard to find a kitten to adopt. Plus, all of the places were overly strict. I’ve been a pet owner forever and treat my pets wonderfully. There was so much red tape with all the Long Island rescues. There were too many questions on application. I felt interrogated, it was awful. Plus, I only wanted to adopt one kitten. That’s my right. All of Long Island rescues required adopting pairs of kittens. I only wanted one cat lol. I’m so happy my older cat I have gets along with the newly adopted cat. I am so grateful to have found Lone Star Pawz. From beginning to end the adoption process wasn’t very difficult. Plus I was so happy to find a kitten that resembles a previous cat I owned who was very special. I drove to New Jersey to pick up my cat Maverick( named after cowboy lol) and it was worth the trip to get this little guy. Since my cat is all the way from Texas I had to give him a Cowboy name. He’s also dressing up as a cowboy for Halloween. Anyone interested in adopting a pet, please adopt from Lone Star Pawz. You won’t be disappointed. Thank you...
