Slim Chickens — Restaurant in Pearland

We should all be sick and tired of chicken places, but we are not and the concepts keep rolling in. This time it’s Slim Chickens. You would think by the way the concept on the outside looks that it’s a bar and grille. Alas, they only serve chicken with sauce in a combo on a platter, in a wrap or on a bun.

Quick tip: stop saying food is high! Everything (As of the date of this posted review) is high at this point. The dollar store stoped selling everything for a dollar a while ago!

Back to it. Ordered a 5 Wing 5 Tender combo with fries and medium drink. According to my childhood buddy, the staff was in a mood that was not pleasing. The cashier was not happy about life or at least about being at work. Please help some of the staff! They looked a bit frazzled! The team member that brought us our food…he was nice. Oh! The dining area was cleaner than expected.

Good presentation! The platter looked like there were more fries in the order than anything unfortunately that was an illusion. On the wing: BBQ. On the tenders: Garlic Parmesan. Both were consistently wet like a steady drizzle on concrete a rainy day. Liked the added touch of the parmesan grated on top of the tenders. Both flavors were good, though the GP Tenders were a bit vinegary. Fries were good not great. They lost their strength after the after fryer cool down.

The four star is for the manager getting into a tiff with a customer who had to wait for almost an hour for an online order! (That really happened) Besides that, this place is well...

I recently visited Slim Chickens at 11131 Broadway St, Pearland, TX 77584, and had a very disappointing experience. I ordered two chicken meals, substituting a shake for the drink in one of them. Later, when my friend realized she didn’t like any of the fountain drink options, she asked to upgrade her drink to a shake.

I approached an employee, who was engaged in horseplay with other staff members, and politely inquired about upgrading my friends drink, offering to pay the price difference. However, he was rude, unprofessional, and dismissive, stating that I would have to purchase the shake at full price before resuming his joking with coworkers. The employee, Chase, appeared to be the manager at this location.

Ultimately, I had to seek assistance from another employee and still ended up paying full price for the shake. Additionally, the quality of the food was extremely poor, the chicken was tough, tasteless, and lacked seasoning. It also seemed to be pre-cooked and reheated rather than freshly made. The fries were undercooked and soggy, making the meal even more disappointing. To make matters worse, after eating the food, I experienced stomach discomfort, which raises concerns about its freshness and preparation.

Overall, my experience at this location was unacceptable. The lack of professionalism among the staff, poor customer service, and low food quality made for a thoroughly unsatisfactory visit. I would not recommend this location based on...

Waited a bit to let the kinks work themselves out. Don’t really know if they needed too, but I am glad my son forced me to stop in😉. I already knew what I was getting as soon as I saw the menu a month ago. Chicken and waffles were in the crosshairs. My son ordered the 3 piece with fries.

Chicken and Waffles. 9/10 Three tenders served over a perfectly made waffle topped with butter and syrup. Served with a drink. I have had chicken and waffles from everyplace I can imagine. This is just as good as the heavyweights of C&W. The tenders are seasoned and cooked perfectly. The waffle alone is better than any breakfast joint around. The melted butter and syrup rounds out the meal to perfection or as close as it could be.

Chick’s Meal. 9/10 3 perfectly breaded tenders served with Texas toast, choice of side and a drink. The tenders again were perfect and the fries were seasoned and crispy. The dipping sauce was Buffalo and it has a really nice tang with just a bit of heat.

I would say as with any business, some days are going to be better than others so just get in there and give them a try. The restaurant was super clean, busy and the employees were really nice. The prices seemed fairly reasonable for what you get. I will definitely be back...
