I don’t like negative reviews unless the place, staff , food and response to costumer isn’t good as in the case of this place . We dined in this place earlier today at around 3:40 pm . Soon as we entered not a greeting from the employee who received us . They didn’t even have a single customer when we walked in . The red curry I ordered had rice that was half cooked. When I called the attention of the server she said the rice was actually pre-cooked and they just refry it. Who the hell does this . I have been to Singapore , Malaysia , Thailand and Bellaire and I have not eaten one with this type of rice . I am an Asian guy who knows how to cook rice . So you charge me for food that is half cooked !? The whole time we were dining the service crew was keeping themselves in an area they didn’t even had visual access to us so I had to stand up and go to them and call their attention . Are you in business or what ? The water had no refills . I think they are not ready for a real business and each day is based on their mood . I don’t mind paying what is asked for but goodness do not tell me what you do is right at my expense . You don’t even deserve a star here . I noticed they have responded but I am not able to respond back so I will update myself here ; this is my response to their response to my review ; Thank you for responding to my review but you didn’t read my review well . I didn’t complain about the “Regular fried Rice with pork protein” I ordered . My complaint was in reference to the red curry I ordered and I stand by my complaint of the rice being not fully cooked . I am an Asian and I know how to cook rice . You already pre-cooked your rice yet it was still uncooked ? Are you a fast food or a restaurant . When I approached your waitress I didn’t even make my voice loud , I politely addressed the issue to her . By the way , train your staff to greet your customers when they walk in . Dont give them the feeling they owe you for trying your business for the first time . . Your restaurant had us as customers but your waitress hid and kept herself out of visual access to us and I had to stand up and approach your staff . Tell your staff to position themselves in working eyesight of their customers during business hours . I politely informed her about the rice . You didn’t even taste what I had . You do not justify yourself when you make an apology . That is how a sincere apology is That simple . What you could’ve done was simply apologize and replaced it . your waitress instead simply walked away and no word of the item taken out of my order tab. I have been to many restaurants and when a complaint about the food is addressed their normal response is always simply replacing it and making it better . I don’t know who you are here responding to my review whether you’re the waitress or owner but your business is rude Just because you didn’t let me pay for your substandard RED CURRY gets you off the hook of being wrong . Wrong is still wrong Your RED CURRY I ordered still remain and will remain substandard . Your apology is not welcome and is not appreciated and I do not believe...
Read moreCalled Thaicoon Restaurant located at 11930 Broadway St, Ste 160, Pearland, TX 77584 Friday evening (March 20, 2025) to place an order for pickup for dinner. Ordered blooming pad thai w/ chx and shrimp, green curry w/ chx and pineapple fried rice w/ chx. Picked it up after ~15 minutes and brought it home. While my wife was serving our child some pad thai, to our great disappointment and disgust, she pulled out what looks to be a portion of a wired steel brush that is commonly used to clean in a commercial kitchen.
This was not our first time ordering the same dishes from this Thaicoon location, but our first in finding a physical contaminant in our food. Although the food flavors taste descent-good, if we were not closely paying attention, or even missed it, our child could have ingested this wired steel brush and it could have been a whole lot worse. This could happen to anyone at anytime, but such contamination is 100% preventable if the employees/staff was properly trained and paid close attention to their tools and utensils before each use. One can only hope that management will use this as a teaching and re-training opportunity to all employees and staff, and even maybe re-visit proper cleaning and sanitation practices and/or SOP’s. We will have to look elsewhere for Thai food next time, as we cannot risk what other contaminations (visible and non-visible) our food might have at Thaicoon next time.
According to City of Pearland’s Food Inspection Report Cards online, it looks like the last food inspection was conducted at this facility on May 2, 2023 (almost 2 years ago!), with the restaurant passing with an “A”, score of 100. If the City’s website is accurate, then they have not had any regular/routine food inspection for almost 2 years which is unacceptable! Per Texas Food Establishment Rules (TFER), food service establishments must be inspected no less than once per year, depending on its risk factors. Full service establishments such Thaicoon should be high up there on risks. Hopefully their website is just not up-to-date or maybe City of Pearland is running behind on inspections and that is even...
Read moreI ordered takeout, so I cannot give an in depth review of their dining service, but I did get immediate attention when I walked in. I had somebody come to me and helped me with the menu selections and answered some questions. Overall, the atmosphere of the place seems very attentive and lively. However, my biggest gripe with this restaurant unfortunately falls within the foods that I've ordered.
I ordered the Pad Thai, Red Curry, and Spicy Basil Fried Rice. One thing that is common between all of these foods is that there is hardly any meat, but a lot of carbs (rice and noodle). While at first glance, the portion does look generous, it quickly falls short when I realized I'm practically just eating rice and noodles with pretty much complimentary few pieces of meat on the side. The Pad Thai noodles were pretty dry and I dreaded trying to finish what was practically just noodles and few pieces of dry chicken. It also doesn't taste like the Pad Thai I usually have at other restaurants, so it didn't meet my expectation. The red curry taste good, but it was seriously packed with bell peppers. I didn't like this because it meant the volume of the curry container was primarily stuffed with bell peppers. I had to take out all of the bell peppers just to get to the beef at the bottom of the container. Lastly, the Spicy Basil Fried Rice tasted pretty good but also lacks meat portions just like the other food. I'm aware fried rice usually don't have that many meat, but this really just felt like I was just eating flavored rice.
I don't want to discourage anyone from not giving this place a try, but I felt I should leave this review as a disclaimer for those who might possibly be concerned about the same thing and could be disappointed...
