Alpha Dessert Juice Cafe Pearland — Restaurant in Pearland

On Tuesday evening, I had a frustrating and disappointing experience at Alpha Juice Cafe-Pearland that I feel compelled to share. I placed an order through their website, which redirects customers to Uber Eats. I selected the birthday cake shake from their Uber Eats menu for $8.96 to include all described toppings— which matched the online description — but when I arrived to pick it up, the order had come through on their end as a soda. How is this the customer’s fault?

When I tried to explain the situation, the woman who appeared to be the crew lead and/or manager was extremely rude & dismissive. Rather than listening or trying to resolve the issue, she immediately told me I was wrong and at fault. She even condescendingly told me to come & look at the screen behind the counter, as if that alone proved I was wrong. There was no apology, no effort to understand what may have gone wrong on their end between the online system via Uber Eats and their in-store processing — just an incredibly unprofessional attitude, a milkshake with zero toppings as described via Uber Eats. Just once again condescendingly talked to about the item being a $13 shake, not the one that was actually sold via Uber Eats for $8.96 with toppings.

Mistakes happen, but the way this situation was handled was unacceptable. If you’re planning to order from Alpha Juice Cafe online, I highly recommend calling ahead to confirm your online order went through correctly — or be prepared to be talked crazy to when it is received wrong at the cafe. I’m so happy this restaurant opened in Pearland. It’s the perfect location because now we don’t have to drive all the way to Sugarland or Hillcroft to eat some good Desi street food! We have been here twice now, and both times were an excellent experience. The paratha roll was delicious! My husband went gaga over it. We liked the samosa chaat, and the daal kachoris were divine! My parents, who are health freaks, loved the fresh juices, and my dad, who’s in the food industry, thought the chicken panini sandwich was the best he’s had in a while. We will be coming back to try out the rest of the menu, it’s good that we will never run out of options. The staff were super helpful and kind to us. The restaurant is clean and tidy. We haven’t had the chance to try the dosas yet because we don’t know there were specific times for it. But we will return to try the dosas; we’ve heard good reviews about it so far. Just one small suggestion: while the menu is extensive and offers so many different items, I was a little dismayed to see that there was no kids option. My son is a toddler, two and a half years old, and we wished there was something there for him to eat besides fries and mozzarella sticks (which he’s not a fan of). Chicken tenders or nuggets would have been nice because he’s a picky eater. But apart from that, kudos to the management for pulling off everything and managing it so well. This is a new franchise location and has been open for only 3 weeks at the time of my review. So, I am hoping that things will get better in the future.

To start with, this is a good place for quick bites, shakes, and comfort snacks with an Indian twist. The store has limited seating so you might have to wait during peak hours. Store is clean and decor is modern.

We ordered the Parantha Roll Chicken, Strawberry Banana Smoothie, Desi Milk Coffee, Alpha Chicken Panini Sandwich, Chicken Quesadilla, Cookies 'n Cream milkshake, and Kulfi Delight plate. We were disappointed that dosas were not available but we were told that they are available only during lunch and dinner hours. The chicken base used in the Parantha Roll, Panini, and Quesadilla were the same. So while they had a good flavor, it didn't feel any different between the three.

There was a "preparation issue" with the Kulfi delight plate. I brought that to the attention of the manager. I appreciate that he apologized for it and immediately went and spoke to the kitchen staff.

All in all, a good place to try out. I will be back to try out more things...
