I honestly did not get to experienced the food. Horrible service was enough for me!!! My son called to put in the order. Person who answered the phone knew 0 English, and although it is not uncommon it would mean that he would be more patient with my boy since he knows what’s people not having patience with non-English speaking customers.
The guy first kept saying “no English” even when my son was speaking broken Spanish; however, he could. I intervene and told the guy to have the same patience with my son, as he was having with him. I was working and had someone on the phone with me and could not talk to the guy but was listening.
My son placed the order and repeat the order few times.
I went to pick up the food. Came home to missing food. Go back and he is going at it with me. Telling me that my son never mentioned the fish. When I asked what about the tostones for this appetizer, did he missed it too!? He was like no, we forgot to add it. So sauce but no tostones!?
I just had it. BAD service. The manager (or at least i think so) could have handled the situation better too. I just wanted to returned the food and leave and never come back.
This place has no sense of customer service. I would have fixed the order. No problem, but the guy was just plainly saying he did not said it. When I clearly heard it ordering the dish. I even helped him mention the words correctly. He had no intention to resolve the issue. Then he is doing an expression as he said “ok.” I don’t want to go to a restaurant for a man to behave like he is at home. I am his customer, not someone he can disrespect easily. The little he could do was apologize and ask me how we can fix this and compromise.
As I was leaving they barked like dogs. I have always been a firm believer that you go to a country and, at least, you try to defend yourself with just a little of the language. Even if it’s broken English. But the guy did not put in an effort. Nonetheless, he was terrible.
I would never go to this place and I don’t recommended. It’s sad because the food might have been delicious but attitude is everything, and you don’t...
Read moreNot really sure how this restaurant gets such a high rating, because its really bad (Most good reviews are probably fake). Service wise the person tried but oh boy he was on slow motion most of the time and forgot a lot of the asks. We were the only ones eating there and he still got the order wrong, I had a little one that had to wait almost an hour for his food while everyone was finishing (just imagine the emotional toll), and there was not really a gesture of taking care of us after that mess up.
The food was not very good and the price was really high (same prices as mondongo's), the meat and chicken were over seasoned and over cooked. The typical plates like the ajiaco had tons of potatoes and at the end most of it was left, the rice was to barf for, I don't think I have ever tasted such a poorly made rice.
Do yourself a favor and don't waste your money, there are way better restaurants then this poor excuse for a restaurant. I would fire the chef and the cook, and retrain the waiters (I am sure it is not their fault well at lest not most of it) and if you are the owner and the chef please do the world a favor and close this place down, Colombian food is great don't ruin its name .
Oh and their juices what can I say they had so much sugar my kids started bouncing...
Read moreUpdate: they changed ownership, and a lot of things changed for bad, sadly. It took 28 minutes for a order to go, before It used to be 15 minutes maximum. Food was really bad! I order my usual seafood soup “cazuela de mariscos” and it was horrible. Extremely salty with lumps with only 2 empty shells and 3 shrimps, seriously! It used to be perfectly creamy with a lot of seafood. The container was usually full now is barely half. Tostones and yuca portion also got cut to half portion and they were undercook. Sancocho de costilla and rice used to be super delicious and now is blah!. New ownership is not longer from Cartagena, so do not expect a lot from the old typical dishes… fritos like bollos and carimañolas are gone. Obviously prices increased like most restaurants, but for their food quality and portion sizes, I feel is not worth to eat here anymore!
(My old 5 star review) What like about this Colombia restaurant, is that is from the coast of Colombia, Cartagena specifically. They are really good preparing sea food and fried fish, coconut rice is their specialty. They have small bites the like, bollos, pasteles, chicharron, etc. The restaurant seem pretty clean and safe following all the safety...
