Five Guys — Restaurant in Penn Township

People have said how amazing this place is. Well I went in on a Thursday at lunch and it was completely dead. Only person there. I think I know why... I ordered a burger, fries, and a drink...$22.11. Not even kidding, $22 for a combo meal?! It was nothing special, a Little Cheeseburger $9.29, Large Fry $7.69, and a regular soda $2.89. Let's break this price down a little. At Sam's club you can buy 10lb 80/20 hamburger for $45. This Little Burger is a .2lb 80/20 patty which means you can make 5 of these with 1lb of hamburger. That 10lb of burger from Sam's can make FIFTY patties this size. Bun, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, ketchup, mayo=$2 cost. Granted, if this thing was a masterpiece of hamburger and cheese, $9.29 would be reasonable but I have had Whoppers from BK and singles from Wendy's that blow this over-priced flavorless bucket of meh out of the water. I honestly don't understand why people think this place is all that. For $22 at Five Guys I can make a burger at home that is not even kidding 200% tastier for 25% the cost. And the fries? They're plain potatoes cooked in oil. And $2.89 gets an entire 2 liter of soda AT A CONVENIENCE STORE. What a ripoff.

Me and my wife had an absolutely fantastic experience at 5 Guys, thanks to the exceptional service provided by leader Jessie and staff member Ethan. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth and genuine friendliness that immediately made us feel welcome.

Jessie, as the leader, demonstrated remarkable professionalism and attentiveness. Their leadership was evident in the positive atmosphere created by the team, and their proactive approach ensured that every customer felt valued and well taken care of. Ethan, in particular, went above and beyond in assisting me with my order, patiently explaining the menu options and making sure I got exactly what I wanted.

Meanwhile, the quality of the food was simply top-notch. The burgers were fresh, juicy, and cooked to perfection, and the fries were crispy and flavorful—exactly what I expect from a great burger joint. It’s clear that 5 Guys prides itself on using high-quality ingredients, and it truly shows in every bite.

Whenever I come to Five Guys, I receive awesome customer service. However, I went one night with my boyfriend and watched a manager throw a temper tantrum over a refund. On 03/22/24, my boyfriend and I went to go into Five Guys in Hanover when a customer who was walking back in warned us about ordering tonight due to her receiving the wrong order. When we walked in, the manager threw a HUGE temper tantrum over them giving her the WRONG order. The manager refused to help her right away and was giving unnecessary attitude not only to the customer but to her crew. The crew looked terrified because of the manager and I honestly felt sorry for them. I understand if you have a busy Friday or a hard day, but you don’t treat your customers like crap over a mistake you did. Whoever this manager is, I hope she can get lessons on better customer service and learns how to treat people better in general.
