Just went there last night. When I called to make reservations for the Valentine special and asked what the price would be the hostess told me it would probably be $35-40. Jackson’s was the only restaurant on the Valentine list that didn’t publish their price for Valentine’s Day. Couldn’t get reservations until 7:30 pm for Sunday, last night for special. Got there had to wait for them to prepare our table when looking around there were numerous open tables as they were not busy so not sure why we had to wait we could have been seated at one of those.
We ordered drinks and my cousin who was with me ordered a red wine and she took a sip and said it tasted like the bottle had been open for a couple of days as it was flat. Waiter brought her another choice and she was ok with it.
We received a dish of bread and butter. Meal came and meat (filet mignon) was cooked perfectly. Overall dish was good. Now for the down side! The ticket came and we were in utter sticker shock! That plate cost $80 and the glass of moscato I had was $12, which I knew but there was only 2” in my glass. This did not include a salad or even a dessert. Talk about price gouging! We went based on what we were told on the phone for price and the waiter described the dish with only difference being they substituted crab for the lobster meat that was sprinkled on the top and he didn’t mention the price. Now we know why the waiter was acting kind of sheepishly when he saw us leaving as he was standing at the end of the bar. We could have had a full meal with salad and dessert on their regular menu for way less. If you think this was worth $80 you’re sadly wrong
You just lost our respect and won’t be back and shame on your staff for bait and switch! Your hostess told us one thing and you billed us differently. We each paid our own bill and I’ve never paid $99, including drink in my life for dinner and not get a salad or even...
Read moreThe dinning experience we endured was an unexpected. My wife was really excited to eat at this restaurant. Upon arrival, we were quickly greeted by the host and were shown to our table. We sat to the left of the front entrance next to a door frame that can only sit a table for two. When I went to tuck my chair in to sit I banged my hand between the door frame and grip of the chair. This was very painful and will include a picture of the bruise I have on my palm. 5 minutes into sitting, we smelled cigarette smell. We peered outside the door frame and noticed we were getting the second hand smoke from what looked to be guests who recently departed. They eventually left and the smoke did too. Our server was Tom and he was tentative. He recommended a berry lemon drop cocktail of which my wife enjoyed. We started off with side salads and included the recommended bacon. The salad was yummy and the "fresh" bacon was a bit stale. Now, as for the disaster of the entree. I ordered the Delmonico 14 oz Ribeye and was aghast. The steak had no sear, had peculiar old feet smell, and was topped with a garlic demi-glaze that was not good. When I asked about the wet age, it was explained that the smell was to be expected. I believed him and continued to have a few more bites. In addition, the steak had no sear on it whatsoever. In essence, I ordered a stinky soggy sock of a steak. I couldn't finish the steak and asked for it to be bagged. I'm including pictures for those who want to have a visual aid. The picture does no justice to the smell of the steak. Later on in the midnight, I woke up with a bad stomach and nausea. By no choice, I ended up purging my dinner. I read today that a wet aged steak should not smell the way it did after it has been cleaned. And if the smell lingered, it's because the steak went rancid. Will definitely not be returning to this establishment and would...
Read moreWe met 4 friends there on a Friday at 6:30. We had reservations; although it didn't seem crazy busy and we found parking close by, which was a surprise. The atmosphere was very pleasant; although some soft music in the background would have been a nice touch.
Everyone in our group seemed to enjoy their specialty drinks. My London fog was especially delicious.
My hubby ordered the premium smokies ($16) for an appetizer. It is one of the worst appetizers I have ever encountered in my life. It was a very small portion that didn't look anything like the description. It looked like part of a sausage link that had been sliced in sections. It was swimming in grease and tasted odd and strangely mushy.
Ceasar salad was OK- but 3 of us waited well over 10 minutes to get dressing for it, which was awkward.
The staff likes to bring multiple servers out to set all the plates in front of all the guests at your table in unison. Although it's an interesting concept, apparently trying to coordinate this for a party if 6 ended up with several of us being served cold food. Not ideal.
The asparagus, although not too warm, was very yummy. It was my favorite part of anything we ordered that night.
My New York strip was OK. It was not warm when I received it, and the demi glace reminded me of brown gravy from jar.
My friend expressed that her salmon wasn't warm either and she didn't like it.
Everyone seemed to love the bread- which is not made in house. Some of our party did enjoy their meal.
Our party of 2 spent $300 (with tip) for our meal, so this was a disappointment considering the food quality. Had our meal been served hot, or even warm, perhaps it would have tasted better. However, even though they were served hot, the smokies were an absolute abomination.
I may go one more time with just the 2 of us and see if...
