We have been “regulars” here for several years, mostly during the day or early evening hours, and have always been treated very well by the waitstaff. However, the last two times we’ve been there have not been pleasant, and we most likely won’t be returning. The first time was a few weeks ago. We like to eat outside for the atmosphere, and there were several open tables outside. We sat down and waited. We waited and waited as 3 waitresses kept walking by us, not even acknowledging we were there. We couldn’t even get their attention to ask for help. After 10 minutes we left. If they had been busy or understaffed, we could understand. We tried again last Saturday. Saturday is the day we have usually been going for at least 5 years, after going to the Palafox Market, during all seasons. We’ve never had a problem. They had a college football game on, and it was so loud you could hear it over a block away. It was just as loud inside. We noticed that none of the customers we usually see on Saturdays were there. My husband asked if it could be turned down just a little, and a waitress (who wasn’t particularly nice, and seemed bothered by us) told us the game had to stay on. We didn’t ask for the game to be turned off, only to turn it down some. We enjoy watching all sports. We couldn’t hear each other talk, and had to keep repeating ourselves. If there was a break in the game, and it happened to get quiet, you could hear the Irish music playing, but as soon as the game came back on it was gone. Why bother playing the music? Finally, she said she would ask inside. She came back out and told us it couldn’t be turned down, and “the boss” just left. Obviously, they thought we were too stupid to know there has to be a volume control. Our waitress was one we recognized, and she apologized to us. It was miserable, so when our food came we immediately asked for to go boxes and our bill. We went somewhere else. It appears they are trying to attract a different clientele during the daytime hours to compete with the places down the street, and the loyal customers are being made to feel unwelcome. We have brought out of town guests here, including friends from overseas multiple times. This establishment will not be getting any more...
Read moreHad a horrible experience on Friday night, 2/18, Pensacon Gallery Night. We were a party of 8 adults, arrived about 5:45. Ordered drinks and dinner. At 7:45 we were finally told by our waitress there was a “fight in the kitchen and someone was fired”. And, there was no way to say how much longer it would be for our food orders. We asked for a manager and a you female came to the table, scolded the waitress for telling us what had occurred in the kitchen but still said no way to say how long until our orders would be ready. She offered a 10% discount on our drinks. Seriously? Asked for her manager, and a young male came to the table. He was rude and unconcerned that we and others had been waiting 2 hours for meals and only after we continued to complain did he offer to increase our discount to 20% but no way to say how much longer meals would take. We waited until 8pm and decided to pay our drink checks and leave. My friend was celebrating a big life event and had been told her bottle of champagne would be $20 but was charged $40 on her bill. Same female “ manager” said waitress was wrong, showed the $40 price on computer screen and said “nothing I can do about that”. This was a horrible waste of time for our group and none of us, all locals, will be going back. The owners of this establishment need to put actual managers in place to manage evident staffing issues, on the floor and evidently, in the kitchen. And empower them to know what the right things to do are in a situation like the one we encountered, and to actually do it. There was zero concern for your customers and return...
Read moreAlthough the atmosphere is okay, I cannot give negative stars for the lack of service and the food, so the average becomes one star overall. Nothing in our orders for five people was a long cook time. We arrived shortly before noon. While we waited for nearly an hour for our food, I watched singles and groups be seated, ordered, served, and leave. So you might get lucky or NOT. We watched another table of three that ordered before us sit there watching our food being delivered before their's. Both of us asked about our orders about 45 minutes in and got some BS explanation. My wife ordered the chicken and waffles. It was clearly ready long before and had been nuked before delivered. The chicken was tough, but worse, the waffle was so tough that she couldn't cut it with the plastic knife. And that's the other issue. We watched every table receive a full size thick napkin rolled around the actual stainless steel flatware. We received plastic packages with plastic forks and knives and a small thin piece of paper posing as a napkin. We were told they were out of flatware. So I got up and went to the hostess/waitress stand and got real flatware and napkins so my wife could saw the waffle, even if she couldn't chew it. If you...
