China Place — Restaurant in Peoria

My boyfriend and I came here about 2 weeks ago and walked out in less that 15 minutes. I made a comment almost immediately about how horrible it smelled and how there was literally not a single other customer in the place and we went on a weekend (grease traps that obviously have no been cleaned in a LONG time. It was nasty and I couldn't believe that someone would be okay cooking food on the appliances the smell was coming from). The smell alone made me not want to get food. But because we were there, we decided to at least get drinks. The menu stated a fountain drink was "$3". So we should have been able to leave with a $6 and change tab (which is still nuts). We get our check and somehow it totals out to $7? The bald guy, I'm guessing the owner or manager, had the audacity to tell us the difference in cost was because he "rounded up" our total. Then when we asked again about it, said there was $0.30 in tax for each drink which, by HIS WORD, should've totaled $6.60 yet the check still came out to $6.75 after we already stated we were NOT going to pay higher than what the total should've been. NEVER returning my business. The smell, although disgusting, could've been ignored, but I will NOT ignore someone "rounding up" my total even though the menu AND the worker said something different. Unable to decide if he was comfortable rounding up because he regularly does this to customers, or if it's because their feelings were hurt that we came in and left immediately. This was the first time my wife and I had ever eaten at this place, and it will be the LAST. I made this known to the person who took our order. We ordered Mandarin Orange chicken with white rice. This is supposed to be a spicy dish, but it was not. I signaled to the waitress, who made eye contact with us but never returned to our table until we were finished with our meal. I wanted to order some hot oil and some egg rolls because the Mandarin chicken tasted like pork skins with sauce on them, and the white rice was hard, not steamed. I spoke with the person who took our order, who also happened to be the cashier, about the issues with the food and service. He said, "You'll get better service in Scottsdale." I told him that we eat at several locations around the area and that there are many places that provide GOOD FOOD and SERVICE; you just don't provide it here. I have read the other reviews of this place and am shocked by some of them. Everyone is entitled to their own tastes and opinions. Do yourself a favor. Ordered through Grubhub. Apparently the restaurant does their own deliveries. We've ordered twice. Food and service was amazing the first time we ordered. The second time, not so much. I ordered at 5:45pm. At 6:45pm, I called to check the status. He told me that they are very busy and that I had to go pick up the order instead. I explained to him that I couldn't do that. He then just repeated that they were very busy and that it was coming. I asked for a time frame and he told me again to just go pick it up. I repeated that I couldn't and that if I could I wouldn't have requested delivery. He then told me that I had to change the delivery to Grubhub to deliver for me which I explained to him that I did have it set to delivery through Grubhub and that Grubhub says the restaurant handles their own deliveries. We called twice and got hung up on. If they cannot handle the demand of doing their own deliveries then they shouldn't be offering to do their own deliveries through Grubhub.
