Steak 'n Shake — Restaurant in Peru

Honestly, I was disappointed from the start because now you have to use a kiosk to order your food. It allows you to leave a tip, but how do I even know if I want to leave a tip if I haven't even been served yet? Then you have to seat yourself. Then the non-waiter waiter calls your name and has you come up to get your drink. The atmosphere isn't anything like the bustling diner that Steak N Shake used to be. Then your name gets called again for you to pick up your food. I was missing food. And then when I went to ask for my sauce that I ordered I was asked to show my receipt. For a cup of sauce!!! It was obnoxious and made me feel like I was lying. You also have to scan your receipt to get a drink and so I was uncomfortable even asking for a cup of water to go along with my shake. Another customer came in from the drive-thru because they had forgotten something and made her go get her receipt. She had to get out of her car just to come in the first time THEY made the error and then to be asked to get her receipt was a joke. I'd be mad too. I didn't even get 4 full meals and it was over $50! Do better, Steak N Shake. This place is a real downer!! I mean if you aren't going to pay people to even be servers, you could at least upgrade the bathrooms! If you sit on the toilet, people can see all of your business through the wide hinge slot in stall door. It's always bothered me. As I was leaving, I watched two older ladies struggling to understand how to get a seat and then how to figure out the kiosk. I just don't think it's worth replacing...

After SEVERAL years of giving Steak N Shake a chance again, I won't be going back. It was because it was filthy and the food wasn't very good...now..

Welcome to no one greeting you, order on a kiosk only, have to scan QR codes to get your drinks. Only one kiosk that accepts cash. The place was remodeled, but the same nasty floor is still there from the 90s or before. They just call out your name and you get your own food. Yet, ask for tips at the kiosk..for what?? They aren't waitresses so they should get an hourly wage.

The "customize" option for the sandwiches is not that great if I don't have the option to add pickles to my sandwich..

Listen, I'm going to a restaurant and I want to place my order and pay with a HUMAN.

Every other restaurant figures out a way to do this fountain drink thing without us having to scan a QR code for the machine to turn on, I am pretty sure you can figure it out, as well.

After being annoyed with all of this hands-off service BS the employees forgot the cheese cups I paid $1 extra for. Acted like I was lying. I had my receipt out. They could go over and check the table at any time..instead they gave me 2 half cups of cheese like I wouldn't notice, maybe...

The shakes don't come with the nice long spoons anymore..?

We are still humans and want to interact with people. I hate this world we live in and the way this is going. .

The food was okay, nothing to be excited or disappointed about. My boys enjoyed...

I usually have a wonderful experience whenever my family and I visit this establishment. However,tonight was different. We walked in and the hostess asked for my name. I gave it to her. I then looked around,and pretty much all seats were taken. It's been awhile since we've been here,so for me,it's was odd for them to be so busy. We stood,waiting for a table to open up. We came in with a party of 7. One in a wheelchair. There was a table for 4,and a table for 2 that opened up. Instead of the hostess seating us,she sat the smaller parties that came in about 10 minutes after us. No seats to wait in,so we stood. We were pretty much in everyone's way,even though we tried to step out of customer's way,as they paid for their bills. The waiting area is too small for a party of 7, plus more people who came in after us. I was disappointed in this visit. And before someone says for me to take my party of 7 elsewhere then, I did, and this is the first bad experience I've had in all the times we come here. The prices are decent,especially when there are 2 children and one adult who doesn't eat much. I'm not sure we'll be back...
