Let me start out with some backstory before I actually get to the meat of my review. I myself have been coming to this restaurant since 2007 (roughly 11 years). It started out I would stop in for lunch every other week and progressed to me bringing my wife, friends, and now kids. The wife and I frequented this establishment almost every week for about a year until we moved a considerable distance away that it wasn't feasible to frequent as often (50min drive 1way).
After moving away, we tried to visit at least once a month to every other month, normally bringing multiple people with us (6-10 extra people). Of these trips our bill (wife and I) was normally $50-60 with other couples ranging close to the same and our single friends more in the $25-30 range.
When I say we have spent alot of money here, I mean a LOT of money. Also the amount of money I have brought into this place either through dragging friends and family to just random strangers that I have plugged to about how awesome the food is here. This place is my favorite place on the planet for sushi and I have told everyone one my thoughts.
Now I can get to my issue that myself and family in tow encountered today. The night before I purchased a groupon as it spammed my screen as I was looking for something on google maps. The deal was $24 off dinner for 4. I know to look at the fine print closely to make sure I am as clear as possible that it will take care of what I want.
In the fine print: "Promotional value expires 120 days after purchase. Amount paid never expires. May be repurchased every 30 days. Limit 2 per person, may buy 2 additional as gifts. Limit 1 per visit. Limit 1 per table. Valid only for option purchased. Dine in only. Not valid toward alcohol. Merchant is solely responsible to purchasers for the care and quality of the advertised goods and services."
So to me that reads I can eat lots of sushi and have $24 less on my bill. We sat down and I got our orders together to be ready for the waiter. Roughly ($60 worth of sushi, 3 bowls of wonton soup and a shrimp lo mein dinner). As per groupon policy, I handed my groupon to the waiter before placing our order. He immediately comes back at me with "you have to order 4 dinner entres, Sushi is excluded" I say, "please show me on the groupon where it says that..." He says, "in the small print". So I re-read the entire coupon I have and of course no where on the entire piece of paper does it say what he wants it to say.
We go back and forth with this a couple times until he eventually calls over someone (sushi chef) that is apparently his boss. The sushi chef does the same back and forth that the waiter gave me refusing to honor the $24 groupon or even refund my money that I used to purchase the groupon. At this point, I am beyond irritated, gather my wife and kids and we exit the place without further making a scene. Ended up going to a sub par chinese buffet down the road with 1000 times better customer service.
Benichopsticks was entirely empty during our brief time there today and they will possibly lose out on the thousands of dollars of business I brought them yearly. I can easily find a new sushi place but they will most certainly be the ones to lose a diehard customer.
I would appreciate a direct call from the owner and an apology before I ever even consider returning.
Not real sure why $24 is worth losing out on a...
Read moreMy cousin and I wanted to take our babies out to chinese for lunch. We arrived at 12:10 (give or take 2-3 mins) and we didn't leave until 12:49... That's all fine and dandy but with two babies, they didn't even ask if we needed anything in that almost hour long period... We ordered orange chicken lunch special and I ordered the chicken brocoli lunch special... The only thing they served us in the hour we were there was one wonton soup each!!! AN HOUR and our meals STILL weren't brought out to us. The ONLY reason we left in that hour is because I stopped the waitress and told her we are on two seperate tabs and to bring us our food in take out. When I tasted my chicken brocoli, I was unimpressed to say the least. I fed most of it to my 3 dogs... I have tried alot of dif. chinese resturaunts before and nothing was ever this bad. Oh, and for $7.95 and an hour long wait, the "fried rice" container was only about half full which is pathetic (the smaller chinese takeout rice container) the portions were tiny in comparison to other chinese places even within a mile of this place. I will NEVER be back... I am disappointed and I threw $9 away...

We have lived in the area for quite a while and have always want to try this restaurant. My husband and I decided to stop in for date night.
This is the first restaurant that I have seen that serves a Bento box. We were very excited about that option just because we had never done one before. There may be other places that serve it, but this is the first one that we have actually come across. We love the different options and what these included. Made for a very fun meal ⛩️
The restaurant was very nice and I thought that the fanned out napkins made for a very nice touch on the tables. Also, the simplicity of the greenery in the vases. You can definitely tell that this has been around for a while. Some might say that it is dated, but I thought it was very quaint.
The servers were very polite and dishes were brought out in a timely manner. Will definitely be back in the future.
Delivery, takeout and dine in available. Lunch, dinner and dessert served. Vegan and vegetarian options served.
