Ace Diner — Restaurant in Philadelphia

This is my first time trying them to dine-in because I've order for take out or grubhub. With entry, it's very small and has a classic feel to it which can be good or bad depending on the consumers. Tip/suggest: this place is great for couples with a small child or two. The waitress greeted me with a menu and ask for a drink. I ordered three stack pancake with bacon and eggs with cheese. Also and order of homemade toasted bread. Most breakfast spot around the neighborhood are the same but this spot is a bit different. It felt like my cousins down south made this breakfast but it's missing variety to make it special. The bacon was pre-cooked (obvious) but the eggs with cheese was made light scrambled and I can taste the cheese. I have been going to Ace’s for a home cooked breakfast a few times a month for at least 40 years. I have seen a few different owners over the years, including Harvey, the original owner. And the menu has stayed consistent. Like McD’s stays consistent. The homemade bread is still good, the grits are always just right, and the bacon or sausage patties are tasty. The pancakes are lite and fluffy. The fried fish is one thing that has changed over time, and not for the better. The staff are pleasant and courteous. This Diner is the best diner I have ever gone to in my life. It has been operating since 1937 and is an original. I love it! It is absolutely 100% genuine, and should be kept open and running as it is a place of absolute history too. I hope it remains to be open and running past it's 100 birthday and that future generations can experieince something real and genuine, the real American Diner as it was from the time it opened till now.
