Murphy’s Saloon in East Falls: My Daily Temptation
Let’s start with the facts: Murphy’s says it’s a saloon, but it’s really a gastropub in disguise—minus the attitude. This place is pure comfort. It’s warm, welcoming, and somehow hits that rare sweet spot between elevated food and a laid-back vibe. JK, the bartender when I went, was on point—friendly, chill, and knows his beer.
Speaking of beer? Impeccable. Great choices, perfectly poured. And the food? Dangerous. Like, I-have-to-stop-myself-from-going-every-single-day dangerous. They carve their turkey fresh. The roast pork sandwich was mind-blowing. The cheesesteak? Made with sirloin. Come on. That’s not a sandwich, that’s a commitment to excellence.
And the fries. The fries. I dream about them. They’re the kind of fries that make you cancel other plans.
To top it all off, the prices are super reasonable—though I hesitate to say that too loudly. Please, Murphy’s, don’t raise them. We love you just the...
Read moreWe hadn't been here in 20 years or so. Stopped in on a dreary Wednesday and it was warm and welcoming. The place was still the same. The decor shows all the history, the music was a good mix, customers of all ages and the bartender (Steff) knew everyone. The perfect neighborhood bar!
But even better was the Wednesday 50 cent wing special (also available on Sundays too). You can order whatever amount you want and have them tossed in their homemade hot sauce, bbq or the weekly special sauce. We ordered 10 with medium heat and they certainly packed a punch. They wings were meaty, crispy and some of THE BEST we've had. Mondays is 1/2 price chicken Sammie and Tuesday is 1/2 price burgers. Looking forward to returning for the burger special (all specials are available all day).
Just note that currently there is a Guinness shortage but they have an Irish stout on tap (Forged Irish stout backed by fighter, Connor McGregor and is quite similar in...

Luckily two people were getting up from the bar for us before our wings were ready but it would have been difficult to eat standing.
I also noticed my original review mentioning that they didn't have cider options but they do now. They also have canned seltzers and other options.
Update: Went for their Wednesday wing special. Decent wings for a great price. Ordered a Diet Coke. No idea what brand they are serving but it was awful (not a Pepsi, I know that flavor).
Original: Went with some friends. I know people are obsessed with Mill Murphy's but I didn't really see it. I'm also not a beer drinker. They didn't have any cider options and their mixed drinks are limited.
I'm also not a fan of cash only places, even though I understand why businesses might choose to...
