I celebrated my birthday with a Boozy Tea Party-themed brunch at Cray Taste in Old City, which offered a social club vibe at a reasonable price. Justin, the owner, was very accommodating, allowing me to host up to 15 guests with various party package options. Cray Taste is BYOB establishment with corkage fees for liquor and wine. The wings and fish and grits I ordered were flavorful, but my friends had mixed experiences with their food. Some dishes lacked seasoning, and one guest’s cheesesteak appetizer was delayed, though compensated with extra portions. The standout dish was the chicken and shrimp Rasta pasta. The overall vibe of the brunch was great, thanks to attentive customer service and a DJ that kept the energy high with hit after hit. While Cray Taste is closing their Old City location on October 27th, I’ll definitely be visiting their new spot. For the food, I’d give it a 7/10, but the brunch experience as a whole gets a solid 10/10.

I’ve been here 3 times , The food is good every time, the atmosphere good , the servers energy on point. It’s just the food may take a lil long. But the owner & server was accommodating . I’ll be back lol

I had such an amazing time at the CRAY Sunday brunch! I celebrated my birthday with my large group of 11! The staff were beyond friendly & fun. The Dj definitely gives you that Day party feel. It was exactly what I was looking for. The food was amazing. Not one complaint amongst my large group. Even the left overs were good the next day. I can not complement the staff enough. They were so accommodating. They went above & beyond! Honestly I had the best time ! They played all sorts of R&B /hip hop music. The atmosphere was overall definitely passes the vibe check. I definitely recommend going! You will not be disappointed at all. It was BYOB. They do have a bottle fee. The food is priced fairly. Great service! The food was so good I didn’t get a chance to take many pictures.

First off, I was very disappointed with this I received an invite via text from one of the promoters for this restaurant. Since it was my friend's birthday and we love to brunch we decided to try it out. I had reached out to the promoter listed on the flyer a day prior and he sent us a menu over of the food items, then when we got to the restaurant we were told some of the items were not on the menu. The mimosas were overpriced...$15.00 for one mimosa is absurd, that's not even the price for it in NYC. We informed the hostess, server, as well as the chef that we had a birthday in our party and nothing was done, not even a simple desert was brought out or a shoutout from the DJ. The server was not too knowledgeable on the food items on the menu and was not able to properly articulate or assist us with recommendations. When someone in our party realized they ordered too much food, we informed the waitress we wanted to change the order that had been recently been put in for the main course since it was only the appetizer that had been brought out the waitress responded and said you're going to enjoy the food which we did not, the food was really not that great. My broccoli was burnt, and my mash had no flavor. My friend ordered the grits and she said the same thing. The chef ended up coming out and we proceeded to tell him that we came from NJ and it was our first time dining in their establishment and that the menu wasn't really specific with the appetizers. My friend told him she didn't want her order but another one of our friends kept her order and would take it home. I informed him we had a birthday in our party and he stated that he had a surprise for them, which he never honored. We left there very displeased and to I doubt we will brunch there again. I'm a person who brunches on the regular and I go to different cities, so I know good customer service when I see it, and this is definitely one of the worst service I've received. If the establishment was busy I would understand but it wasn't busy, they had a smaller crowd than usual, but I felt like due to that they were inflating their prices that day, because the menu that they had on the table was priced higher than what was online cause I took a picture to compare the two. There are other places in Philly I would consider going to before coming back...

Unfortunately, I have to give a bad review. I visited this place a couple of weeks ago and had an amazing experience. Food came out fast, good drinks, live music, friendly waitresses and even met the owner. The visit I had earlier today turned into a terrible experience. My friends and I came for brunch. We had a waitress who told us it was her 2nd day working there. She was not shadowing anyone so we didn’t question her experience. She was nice but seemed very lost when it came to servicing us. We arrived 12:15pm, our orders were taken at 12:45pm, we got our drinks around 1:00pm and our appetizers at around 1:15. Our waitress checked in maybe twice and told us she wish she could get the cook to move faster but that it was coming. We assumed they were behind on all orders. That wasn’t the case. The tables that came in AFTER us were served before us, and the tables who sat before us hadn’t been served their food when I went to complain. My friends’ entrees came out around 2:10pm. My food never came out. I waited another half hour to 45mins. My friends finished their food and our table was cleared of clutter. The waitress stated the kitchen messed up the order. I asked for the bill and a manager. The bill she brought back was completely incorrect, potentially someone else’s bill. The manager seemed impatient but tried his best to help. He removed my meal from the bill and said the waitress completely forgot to put in the order. He also mentioned it was her 2nd day there. He returned the bill to us with $30.00 removed. That was also incorrect considering I only received my appetizer from their package deal meal and my friends never received their desserts. We paid for our hookah with cash. Again, an adjustment was made to our bill. We were there from 12:15-3pm. I never received my meal. I was not offered a meal voucher or discount to return. No real apology for the lack of customer service. Not to mention, gratuity is already included in your bill. I thought this place was decent but they clearly should focus on their training. Maybe even add in some refresher courses on customer service for management. Terrible service. Terrible experience. Unfortunately, though the food is very good, I will not be returning or recommending...

Our waitress was very nice and accommodating. To be frank the restaurant caters to a younger more “hood” crowd. I am a suburban African American mother and professional in my late 30’s who took my 12 year old son out for brunch. The atmosphere was not what I expected from reading the website description or articles on the restaurant. I will describe my experience below and feedback from my son which will hopefully help others. Service: The food took over an hour and we did not even eat it, they had to pack it to go it took so long. Literally. I put an hour and a half + in the meter and made it back when the time was done. On top of taking so long a 20% gratuity was added to a party of 2 without asking or even telling me. Food: The French toast was soggy and grits unseasoned. Unfortunately we had to throw the French toast away. My son seasoned the grits and they were good. The eggs were really good as well. I enjoyed the crab fries but my son did not like the quality of the cheese used. The salmon cakes were too oily for me, it gave me indigestion but my son enjoyed them without issue. Atmosphere: The DJ played degrading music with cursing, sexualizing women, and violence. It was offensive to me as an adult but more disturbing was how appalled my 12 year old son was and that there were a number of children, even younger in age present. There was hookah provided to tables at the brunch. This was not mentioned, or apparent on the website and it should be. That was also extremely appalling to my son because it is not something that he has been exposed to previously. Overall Lasting Impression: I think the brunch/restaurant is a nice concept and has a demographic that it is catered towards but it should be stated clearly on the website. When I read it I thought of Relish, or Time. Ultimately I was saddened because I intentionally chose a black owned business to take my son so he can see a positive example, and instead he left in a state of shock and disgust regarding the environment that the restaurant and it’s staff propagated. Despite the wait, music, and unexpected hookah, it was a nice atmosphere and...
