Right now, literally in this moment, I need coffee. I want Federal Donuts because the coffee is surprisingly amazing and I can bring my girl a honey donut which she loves.
Here’s the problem — I don’t feel like bumping into the woman that works there. She ruins my morning, like clockwork, every time.
First of all, she doesn’t acknowledge customers until she’s ready and for me - she literally refuses to speak. She walks to the register and stares in my face. No good morning, no what are you having. I was in there earlier this week and I had to chuckle in disbelief before placing my order because why would any establishment think this is okay?
She can’t hear. I had to repeat everything until I started screaming at her and even then she didn’t hear that I asked for a small coffee, so I had to repeat the size.
Another thing - she refuses to put my honey donut in a bag. This has been an ongoing issue. I just don’t feel like that this morning. The last time I was in, she did something ridiculous - she left the tissue paper she used to grab the donut in the pastry bag and handed me the pastry bag. Why doesn’t she know that you discard the tissue paper you grab the donut with and a pastry bag is not a bag. At least offer the customer a bag. In the past she has huffed and puffed … told me it’s already in a bag and has just been overall nasty.
She ruins my experience every time. This lady has to go. She makes me not want to visit ANY Federal Donut location at all which is unfair because quiet as it’s kept, y’all have some of the best coffee in the city and the lines are never long. I’ve been a fan since 2014 when I was a regular at the old Sansom street location.
I’m writing this review because I’m just going to go to the S’Bux in Target, which is two blocks out of my way and their coffee isn’t as good. But, the baristas are decent enough to say good morning and smile so they’re gonna get my coin.
This woman looks like smiling and opening her mouth makes her face hurts. It’s sad because I miss out on so much Federal Donuts just trying to avoid this lady. Next time I bring donuts to my staff, I’m gonna just go to Redding Terminal which is closer to my job even though I prefer donuts from Federal Donuts.
Please fix this and let me know when it’s fixed so I can bring my girl for lunch. I literally don’t need a red carpet rolled out, but nastiness and missing the common courtesies is ridiculous. I’d be fine with a...
Read moreThis is a place that serves fresh made donuts and chicken. As well as serving great coffee. It's more of a fast food setting then a dining experience. The staff is generally pleasant and I've never had a problem as well as the service being effective. As for the food the donuts are really good particularly the cinnamon brown sugar donut which when hot and fresh is delectable. I can't speak for the other donuts as I am hooked on this one. But I imagine the other donuts are just as tasty depending on your taste. As for the chicken that is where my glowing review ends. The crust on the chicken is tasty and it is cooked crispy which is great but as far as underneath the skin I found the chicken to be terribly undercooked and rubbery and I ended up not finishing my thigh or my leg. Technically the chicken may have been "cooked" according to the federal donut standards but certainly not to my liking because I don't like to taste rubbery chicken and it had bad mouth feel as a result . I will not be ordering chicken from this place ever again. My favorite fried chicken is Royal Farms, ranked number one in food and wine magazine as the best fast food chicken and I will stick to it as there's nothing like it. That being said I will probably return to Federal donuts for the donuts and coffee themselves as that's all I need from this place. The only thing I cannot review at federal donuts are the wings and the fried chicken sandwich which I hope are better than the other items...
Read moreI placed a takeout order and picked it up. Once I got home, I realized the order was incorrect. There was only one plain donut in the bag when I had ordered 2 strawberry lavender. The donuts were a special request from my daughter. I drove back to get the right order.
I told them the order was wrong, I had 2 strawberry lavender donuts and you gave me 1 plain donuts. For starters, the ladies at the front desk didn’t seemed apologetic at all for their mistake. They were smirking at each other as if they thought the situation was amusing.
Then the lady at the front started making the donut while I waited and she came back with 1 donut. I asked about the other and she said that I already had one in the bag.
This made me upset knowing that she once again didn’t pay any attention to the order or what I said. She didn’t check what was in the bag. I took the donut out of the bag and left it on the counter to make sure she sees it was a plain donut. She got upset that I was being disrespectful and won’t make the second one unless I took it with me. I threw the plain donut in trash. I waited once again for the second one to be ready and left once I got it.
I have been a regular customer of Federal Donut for years. This is the first time I have had to deal with this level of unprofessionalism. I can only hope the management acknowledges this incident and does a better job at hiring and/or training its staff with basic etiquette of handling customers when the customer is...
