Went with my buddy on 6/12/25 to see one of his favorite comics, Doug Stanhope. Bought the tix 3 weeks ago. Arrived at 7:15pm for a 7:30pm show. Everyone was already seated & it was apparently sold out. We were seated against the side wall where the view was limited & I apparently was in the way of all the servers. To make matters worse there was a tall kid with a lot of hair sitting in front of me. We were crammed in the spot. I had no leg room and I can only see the comics from the nose up with the kid in front of me moving his head the whole time & the servers asking me or tapping me to move every time they walked by. I couldn’t get comfortable or just sit still. So about 30 mins into the show, I got up to explain to the usher what was happening & she said “It’s sold out. What do you want me to do”? I said I paid like everyone else and matched her cocky tone as I said it. I then walked out to smoke a cigarette & the manager chased me down the lobby. I told him what happened with the usher & he said he’d try to move me, but by then I was turned off & aggravated. I said it’s not my fault the oversold the show & I'm not gonna inconvenience another paying customer by moving when there was literally nowhere to go. He asked what he could do & I said give me my money back & he scoffed & I said “Exactly… have a nice night” & I split. I spend everyday at a job where I’m talked down to & treated like a servant. I shouldn’t have to feel like I don’t matter when I paid for a show. So I won’t be returning to Helium. The bouncers were cool & friendly, but the manager has an attitude like he’s doing you a favor when you paid for admission & adhered to the two item minimum. I went to see a comedy show & the biggest joke was the venue itself… I hope you read this, Mr. Manager… Thanks...
Read moreI loved that they hosted Ryan Long and thoroughly enjoyed his show (a gift for my husband, long time Boyscast fan) and my waitress was efficient (albeit lacked foresight in the end), but all else considered, my husband and I had a horrible experience with our check (to this day, 4 weeks later unresolved). It was such a subpar atmosphere and overpriced culinary offerings for bland bar food, plus THREE openers before the main show— wish there’d only been one and an extra 30 mins of Ryan. Squeezing four people into small tables when they are clearly meant for only two gives the impression that they aren’t considerate of your comfort immediately . Most importantly, end of the night, I sent an uncooked meal back but the waitress did not remove the charge so we had to address it with the manager. He attempted to refund and readjust the charge for my husband, but there was an error so I offered my card to make the process easier. Lo and Behold, no refund happened for my husband 10 business days later so we were doubly charged, and I contacted customer service which said to email management. Well, I did so, my husband did so, we did it twice again, and we reached out via social media which sent us in a circle. It’s inappropriate and very poor business practice to treat your customers negligibly when you’ve made a mistake. I also read the responses for prior poor reviews and would not bank on this being addressed properly since there seems to be a lack of accountability for those whom have had legitimately undesirable experiences. Also, drinks are indeed way too much for Philly standards as per the quality of the cocktails. I hope that they actually retain an on-site manager in the future for customers’...
Read moreHorrible hospitality. I will never patronize this place again. The first two times were good. The third time was potentially the worst customer service experience that I have ever experienced in my life.
Let's begin. Today is my birthday. My son's last class is at 6:45. We stopped to get food, because he was hungry. The closest parking garage was full, so I told him to go and get the tickets. Naturally, he took the food. I had a bag with outside food before and nothing happened. We ordered things here and that was that.
I get to the club and I see my son standing eating like a pig trying to rush and finish, so I asked him what was going on and a lady named Michelle replied with a nasty attitude and I wasn't even talking to her. That's mistake number one and I ended up asking her if she was ok, because of her nasty, condescending attitude.
So, we're both eating and here comes the assistant GA to investigate. I guess Michelle called him. I really wanted to leave, but my son said to stay and not waste the money. I just didn't want to waste any more money buying food. My son is a Wharton School of Business star student. I am embarrassed about how we were treated at this establishment. It's not what you say, it's how you say it. That's simple business management...
Needless to say, we won't be returning. I would have just left my food with her, but I didn't want to risk her spitting in it. Sorry, that's just how I felt. I really had to apologize to my son. Gladly, I'm not letting this place ruin my birthday. I hope that the owner takes the time to ensure that his establishment provides a positive and inviting atmosphere. I boycott based on...
