Hive — Restaurant in Philadelphia

Walked in yesterday morning/afternoon for a bagel and coffee and stood inside the restaurant for 5 minutes and nobody ever showed up to serve me. If there was anyone even there they must have been in the back room.

Regardless if they were in the back or not, no restaurant should have nobody visible for 5 minutes while you are standing inside. Especially a cafe style place, in the early afternoon, with nobody else being served. Could have been more than 5 minutes because I just walked out after nobody showed up. Saw 2 other people waiting and looking around too as I drove away. Very strange. Possibly an understaffing issue?

Food looks pretty great online so I was disappointed at the lack of service. It almost looked closed but the door was wide open. Not even someone behind the cafe counter or anything.

I’ll give 3 stars for now because the food looks good and I will try again a different day to hopefully...

Cool spot, but the food wasn’t on-point. We ordered the tofutti, avocado, sundried tomato, onion sandwich on sesame seed bagel. The bagel was smaller than expected and over-toasted. It was a bit burnt and very dry. The sandwich overall was light on fillings. We came for lunch, ate, but left still feeling hungry—I had to make myself a bit more food when we got home. Not ideal for a 9 dollar sandwich. Compared to Bart’s Bagels, for example, you can get a larger version of a similar sandwich for cheaper, and on a waaaay better bagel. I would recommend this place for drinking coffee and working on your laptop, but...

Best spiced chai I have ever had in my life, tomato pesto bagel not so much. Three stars because you take the good with the bad.

You know when you catch a flavor that does not match any of the ingredients that you expected to be in the food and you have to suspect a little cross-contamination with other food stuffs? Yeah. It's tomato pesto and fresh mozzarella on a bagel. I expect each bite to taste like... tomato pesto and fresh mozzarella on a bagel. Not egg or ham or onion. Those are at least foods, it didn't taste toxic or inedible, just not kosher.

I'm going to be dreaming about that chai though...
