The waitress was horrible. Was totally frazzled and made us feel like an inconvenience. She forgot to put our pizza order in so we were done with the rest of our food by the time the pizza came. Loudly sighed when we asked for silverware. We Asked multiple times for our check when she was at neighboring tables as she never came over. She seemed like she was avoiding our table. 2 adults, 2 kids and the place wasn’t particularly busy. While we were waiting for our check, I walked my crying baby in laps around the building trying to get her to sleep and passed the waitress smoking a cigarette multiple times as the other adult In my group was at table waiting for check. I ended up going to bar and asking if someone could please give us our check so we could just leave. The bartender got our waitress who huffed at me and was beyond irritated. She tried to box our food for us, which was strange as she was so MIA the whole time and also because she did not wash her hands after smoking. She stood there above me as I filled out my slip and was watching to see how much I tipped. Like I was standing there waiting for her to leave and she was just standing by beside me watching over my shoulder. Hint- not a lot for tip. Service was so bad. I had great service somewhere else today and tipped 15$ on a 40$ tab. It’s not like I’m some jerk. But I’m not up for eye rolls and sighing when I ask for silverware to cut up a kids food. Jaxx Steaks is a must do stop if you’re in Philly. My wife & I have enjoyed Jaxx several times taking advantage of both their outdoor open seating, as well as comfortable indoor offering. The food, service, beer and beverage offerings are exceptional. My Me 19 Cheesesteak delivered not only a bountiful amount of thinly sliced perfectly grilled steak folded around savory grilled onions, melted cheese and red hot peppers that brings the spice you’ll be looking for with this order. The roll pairs perfectly with its soft, full crunch texture which my wife agreed as she enjoyed her Eggplant Parm. For her, it was more than enough for both lunch and a later dinner. The eggplant was grilled with a light crisp texture bathed nicely in a tasty complement of sauce and parm. Definitely a healthy guilty pleasure of sorts. Now, toss in the freshly made onion rings, and always attentive service and you have a home run at a spot on fair price. Finally, we’re beer adventurers and the exceptionally large, diverse and very chilled selection options will impress all who stand before the “wall” of glass coolers. Jaxx is my local pub. Historically I’ve always felt like their food is pretty mid, but being so close to me and with their large selection of beer I’ve always wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. I’ve eaten here a handful of times, and while it’s nothing special it never has been terrible. Until tonight. I was in a rush tonight and needed to eat something quick, so I reluctantly ordered a roasted pork sandwich- as there are reviews that say it’s very good and the pictures do look appetizing- with broccoli rabe and cheese. But I was extremely let down. Not only was there nothing except roast pork on the sandwich, but it was extremely dry. Definitely not what is advertised or what is normally served. I was very let down, even with my already low expectations. Jaxx is only good for the beer selection. I once believed their food was okay- will get you by in a pinch. But after tonight I will not be eating from them again. Such a let down for a local in the neighborhood who wants to like this place so bad, but they never deliver. I will be calling for a refund. Extremely let down and only giving 2 stars instead of 1 because it’s a local business and it’s good beer selection. Their food needs...
