Ken Shin Asian Diner — Restaurant in Philadelphia

The customer service here sucked so hard LMAO if you see a young waitress with glasses behind the counter, wait another day to pop in.

Visited around 9:30 PM after a concert - my two friends and I were the only people in the restaurant. We weren’t greeted or offered a seat, so after a couple awkward minutes of standing around we just took a table. The waitress saw us, but waited close to 10 minutes to bring our menus; no greeting or suggestions, took orders super curtly, maintained a visibly exasperated expression when one of my friends asked for a few more minutes to decide what he wanted. She brought utensils out and didn’t quite slam them on the table, but was weirdly forcible putting them down. Didn’t say a word when delivering food, never came back to the table to ask if we needed anything else (with the exception of wordlessly topping off our water about halfway through). We finished our food and asked for the check; waited about ten minutes, didn’t receive it. My one friend asked again (it was about 10:50 by that point, we knew they were closing soon) when the waitress appeared and she rushed it out, but then didn’t bring back the merchant copy to sign for like another 5 minutes. She tossed 3 fortune cookies on the table with the most pissed off expression I’ve ever seen and disappeared behind the counter again LOL.

this place used to be run well but unfortunately those days are long over. hint: it's a really bad sign for a place to eat if they can’t be bothered to fix the awful sewage smell that fills the entire restaurant; I don’t know how anybody eats in there. The door handles coated in years thick hand grease. Doors each installed to open opposite directions, defying all logic. But then the woman upfront lied to me saying it would be ready in two minutes...after 15 minutes went by I just canceled my order and left, I will never return or be disrespected and lied to so blatantly, ridiculous. They weren't even the least bit busy and the cook seemed to come out and take breaks before anything was done being prepared, so odd. but what kind of person lies to somebody’s face like that and then doesn’t even apologize, on principle alone I will never return and I hope this poorly run health hazard goes out of business. Picture this - a 93° heat wave day on a nice Friday around 2:30p. Looking for some lunch and very parched. We got recommended this place from a friend so we’re excited to try it out. Upon walking into the restaurant, we were greeted by the lady in front with the look of pure anger and disgust, as if our pure existence was the worst thing to ever happen to her. We walk over to the table and ask “can we sit here?” - she starts slamming water cups from a cabinet underneath and screams “whatever you want” as it looks like steam is raging from her head. Fearing for our life, we decided to leave the restaurant. This was a matter of personal safety. She hated us. For just walking in there. Probably the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. It was like the opposite of customer service I’ve ever experienced. She wants no one to eat there. It was awesome how bad it was. 0/10...
