I picked up a hoagie tray from here for a family gathering at my house. This place was recommended to me by someone who ordered several trays from them for a work party (the employer paid so they didn't care).
I ordered their largest tray, and it was supposed to feed 12 to 15 people. I paid $47 for it. It was one layer of cut-up hoagies (24 pieces) and didn't even feed 12 people. I had to buy rolls and lunchmeat elsewhere because it wasn't enough food.
I called today to talk to someone about it, and she answered the phone shouting "We're closed". I had to stop her from hanging up by saying that I wasn't trying to order something. The woman (who said she was the owner) was rude and basically said mine was the first complaint they had in 20 years. When I told her that there was not enough food to warrant costing $47, she said I must have thought I was dealing with Primo's, and that I must have served it to people with big appetites. When I told her that this was my first time trying Marinucci's but that I wouldn't buy from them again, she basically said OK.
She should have at least listened, said they'd consider increasing the size, offered to take some money off, or offered a free hoagie for my trouble. She was rude and acted like she just didn't need my business.
First time, last time. Never again. There are plenty of other places who value...
Read moreWhat a great neighborhood deli, the hoagies are to died for! I moved to Mayfair from oxford circle where the best deli around was Matty's Meat Market, I should know I worked there! When I moved I was hard pressed to find a good deli. I remember I was amazed when I got my first hoagie, I was tired and hungry from working on my new house just a short walk away. I needed something that was fulfilling and that hoagie did it, and with extra leftover for the next day. Needless to say, it's now been 10 years since then and the place is just like fine wine. Please stop in and say hi to the owner, Marie. She's the nicest person you'll meet. I would like to dispel the rumor that the close early when they run out of rolls, not true! Over the years I can't remember a time of them closing for this issue... As for the hours, come on, it's a deli! There not gonna have long hours, but they are open late on the weekend. Oh, don't forget they also opened a deli in Wildwood, NJ, so that should tell you something about there food... Keep up the good work Mar's. Long time patron, and...
Read moreThe hoagies are top-notch - arguably the best in the city. But the deli employees have to start wearing protective masks properly and being more mindful of themselves and their customers.
There's a sign on the door requiring customers to wear masks. But not a single member of the staff wears their masks properly! No one's masks covered their noses. During a recent visit, the young woman taking orders wore her mask below her chin. If masks don't completely cover one's mouth AND nose, it's akin to not wearing a mask at all.
On the same visit, I saw another employee wipe his nose with his hand, then go back to work without washing his hands and/or putting on fresh gloves. I hope he wasn't touching food, but I couldn't tell from my vantage point.
I raised these concerns with management in September. Yesterday, October 9, I went in again to pick up an order, and nothing had changed.
So many people love Marinuccis. I do, too. But until I know for sure that the business is taking steps to protect customers and employees, I will...
