No welcome as I entered for lunch, staff seemed surprised and arose from hiding on phones behind counter. I found a paper menu and looked it over. Ordered lamb gyro combo which said comes with fries and a drink. Many sodas lined up on counter so I pointed to a brisk tea and the cashier proceeded to add 3.25 or something after I had already ordered a combo with drink. I asked and he clarified only tiny greek soda waters were included in combo. Fine. Watched cook take old gyro meat from fridge under flat-top to warm up on grill. Not sliced from the spinning meat (without heat on it) behind counter. Asked for meat well done because I don't trust that under the counter meat. Said ok. Got my meal and went back to my jobsite to eat. Upon opening the container I was overwhelmed by smell of burnt lemon juice. The meat was not well done and had an acrid taste to it. I ate half because I was starved but ultimately was so bad I had to throw it out. The waffle fries were fine. I wonder if the burnt lemon flavor and smell was from unrinsed citrus grill cleaner. Bad vibes. Suspicious meat. terrible smell and taste. I will not be back. I'll update when I get sick later I'm sure. Update: My discomfort did not reach the level of illness. A...
Read moreGyros are one of my favorite foods. Was super excited to have this place near by but was sadly disappointed in the style in which they prepare gyros. I know they try to do it in the style you see in Greece but fries on the gyro no thanks. I think they do that in Greece just to appeal to Americans.
There was no onions or tomato’s or lettuce. The gyros lacked flavor and were very dry. I like them how I grew up on them with all the toppings, fries are just unnecessary. Want a proper gyro, Tommy’s down the street does an amazing job and adds lettuce, tomato’s, finely chopped onions and tzatziki sauce. That’s how you do it. Super juicy and spot on.
Also I had the gyro fries platter. It was just fries with gyro meat and white sauce thrown on top. Nothing special unfortunately. Wouldn’t get again. Suggest Moustaki try adding other gyro options. People that work there are great, owner did a nice job with the place. Just wish the food was better.
Btw I tried them a second time. Same results. Likely...
Read moreI love having this option in the neighborhood and for the most part, the food is fresh, portions are a nice size, and prices are ok. However, I was a little annoyed at my last visit. My husband ordered a Hercules Bowl and the steak was awful - super tough and chewy. I enjoyed the Falafel Pita with Greek Salad, though! But, I ordered online directly through the Moustaki website hoping to help the business by not ordering through a third-party site like Door Dash. When I took a look at my receipt, I was charged a "Delivery Fee" even though I picked up my order. When asked about it, they told me it was a new "technology" charge. What??? They didn't remove the charge, but said they would tell the manager about it. Also, when I did a mock order on Door Dash, it would have been $7 less including delivery and tip than ordering on the store's website like I did. Joke is on me! Food is good, but the weird discrepancies in what things cost and why is...
