NY Bagel Cafe & Grill (Terrace St-roxborough) — Restaurant in Philadelphia

NY Bagel Cafe & Grill opened up nearly directly behind my house. It is a welcome addition to the neighborhood. They have breakfast, lunch, and 'all-day' items. My first test with them was a bagel sandwich and a 6 piece of soy garlic wings.

I'll start with the wings. So juicy and tasty. I somehow got 6 drumsticks - no worries, they didn't last long!

The bagel sandwich was solid as well. The everything bagel had enough seasoning on it to add to the profile of egg salad and avocado. Portion was fair as well. It alone would have been fine to address my breakfast needs.

Perhaps my expectations were too high because my husband and I were so excited to get a bagel place in the neighborhood, but this place was just okay. I got the pizza bagel with mushrooms, which says it’s $6.5 on the menu but then was $9 when I actually ordered it. $6.5 feels like the appropriate price for the quality—the mushrooms were anemic and soggy and the bagel was kinda mushy under the toppings (toasting it first might have helped?). The food is solid, it’s not awful but not the best you can find in Manayunk. I would give a 4 star but it’s just too overpriced for average food, I appreciate all of the options available though! I got a Blueberry bagel with Strawberry cream cheese and the whole thing was very salty? Which was confusing because I was looking for a sweet breakfast. My partner got a breakfast sandwich and it was good, but $15 is a little much for a BEC. The staff are all really sweet though, and I appreciate their kindness.
