Poe's Sandwich Joint — Restaurant in Philadelphia

Yummy. You get a big hardy sandwich, great flavor, and guaranteed leftovers. Veggies were cooked to perfection. We ordered 3 random sandwiches, all were great, and loaded fries. We spent 60 bux for 4 people including tax and tip. No drinks of course because the second best part about this place is that it's in a delicious brewery, but that's for another review.

Kid friendly? Yep

No highchair offered but we also didn't ask for one. I'm sure they have 🤔. But they still earned 5 stars 🌟 ✨️🌟 ✨️ 🌟 because the toddler loved the murals and the self serve water. He loved THE BATHROOM which was clean just wet a bit arround the sink, but that is to be expected. He usually doesn't eat his veggies but snuck a few bites from my sandwich and kept asking for more. I happily shared. I don't blame him; it was yummy. He preferred it over the loaded fries.

We sat indoors to eat because it was noon at 90° and allergies. We stayed an extra 15min waiting outside after we eat because the kiddo loved the pirate ship themed outdoor seating area. He turned the huge helm and wanted to hang from the mast. We wouldn't eat outside with him even in favorable conditions because it is adjacent to the street, but it was still a treat to let him play and enjoy the hand painted pirate caricature while we made sure he didn't run away into the street.

I wonder if the park across the street belongs to the same get-up? I have to come back and find out.

We will return whenever we are...

I rarely give bad reviews as I always seem to have generally good experiences or the restaurants I visit tend to have more positives than negatives which allow me to balance out my reviews. Unfortunately, Poe's Sandwich Joint is doesn't fall under either category. My partner and I went and we ordered 2 different sandwiches which both left a lot to be desired.

I ordered the pretty Ricky which is essentially a cubano sandwich with a fancy name. Unfortunately it lacked a lot in the flavor department and the bread seemed almost stale.

My partner ordered the meatball sub which was better in the flavor department but my partner also mentioned the staleness of the bread.

We also ordered loaded fries to share which were pretty good, though we didn't finish them due to the fact that we were both very turned off by the sandwiches and simply lost our appetite.

To add insult to injury, immediately after we ate 1/2 the sandwiches, we both started to feel like we had upset stomachs. The pain continued for quite a while until we both ate some plain white rice to calm them. I'm guessing the stomach aches had to do with the amount of grease and fat the sandwiches had since both of ours were pretty greasy.

I don't usually tell people to avoid a place, but I wouldn't want people to have the same experience we did. There are much better alternatives, such as The Torch-Wood Cafe which has never once disappointed with...

2025 January 5th 5:27pm isn’t there supposed to be pork on the skinny Joey fries ? Cause there was none on mine who ever you have working there need some help or they need to be fired I ordered a Gary cooper ..2 bird man sandwichs and the skinny Joey fires this place fell off completely ✌️

~My name is not Mike … today October 16th Saturday around 10:20pm Ordered from here 1 chicken head and 1 bird man this would be are 4th time ordering from here same thing all 4 times …the last 2 times we ordered my bird man sandwich comes like it always had but for my wife’s chicken head sandwich not the same at all both times forgetting the fries on the side ..the other thing is the chicken head sandwich always came on a round roll with pickles and sauce with no tomatoes is how we ordered now it’s on a long roll with green stuff and sauce and pickles and tomatoes I don’t know what happened here but it’s not good we always leave special instructions but they seem never to be looked at or nothing we really like the food a lot but if we are wasting it then there’s no need for us to Oder no more from here no more and if u changed the sandwich then tell Uber eats to change it on your Uber eats menu cause it’s on there saying round roll … Pretty good sandwich place here with all kinds of different sandwiches...
