Good God man, what did I just eat?!
I have had Porco's on my list for a while. I'm not sure how I first heard about it. Then we recently moved to Graduate Hospital and discovered it's right next to a beer distributor we go to (!!that has a friendly warehouse cat!!) and decided to try it when restocking our booze post-holidays.
We ordered the Philly and the Cubano for pickup via the website before we left our apartment, picked up some beers and said hi to the cat next door, and by the time we were done our sandwiches were ready! It was freezing out so we took them home to eat.
They were unlike anything I've ever had. I have never had a roast pork sandwich from the other places, so I have no comparison. It definitely isn't a ham sandwich, which is my only pork sandwich comparison. It was so JUICY. We had gotten the sandwiches cut in half so we could each have half of each sandwich to try. I tried the half Philly first and the pesto gave it a little lightness that all the pork definitely needed. It was a really nice balance (but still a big bite and a heavy meal!) We hadn't expected pickled cauliflower on the Cubano but those pickled veggies (the gardenia) were so necessary. The cracklin on both provided a nice crunchy texture. Unfortunately the gruyere on our Cubano was melted almost to smithereens and was practically non-existent, but there was already so much flavor that it was almost okay? I do love me some gruyere though... Named my Animal Crossing island after it.
ANYWAY. The sandwiches are delicious. I would love to give the meatballs a...
Read moreI was giving a recommendation to try Porcos Porchetteria, so since I was in the city picking my daughter up from work I decided to swing by and give it a try. Passing the window and seeing how pretty their deserts were made me happy we stopped. we were greeted by one of the biggest hellos from Taylor, and when you are treated with a big smile it helps amplify the experience.
Never been there before so I asked him what he recommended. He sold me on a spicy mango spritzer and the OG sandwich. I have never had a spritzer before so I did not know what to expect. At first I was worried I would not like it but it was love at first sip.
Now for the sandwich. this sandwich tormented me the whole 27 mins it took to get home, and if it was not for the fact I was sharing the sandwich with my husband when I got home I would have eaten it like a trash panda in my van. the ciabatta bread was so fresh and the amount of meat on this sandwich was amazing. the texture and flavor of the pork cracklings elevated this sandwich. my only disappointment is that I was sharing this sandwich, I should have gotten a whole one just for myself.

Read moreCool vibe, understated place, really nice people, and an AWESOME pork sandwich.
I got the Philly with the rapini pesto, shaved sharp provolone, Porchetta, and cracklins, and a mocha latte.
The latte was very good. Lots of good mocha flavor in there and quality coffee.
Didn't eat the sandwich for about an hour and a half when I finally got home so it could have been even better...which is impressive since it was so good even after sitting waiting for me to dig in.
TONS of flavor. Really good porchetta, great pesto, nice sharp provolone, and the homemade cracklins put it over the top! The homemade Ciabatta held up well and was hearty enough to be a conduit for the Porchetta without getting soggy or falling apart, but remained soft and chewy. Good choice of roll for this sandwich.
One of the top sandwiches I have had in my city of brotherly love. Worth every penny and will be back for 100% sure! This place deserves to be up there on the pedestal with the classic greats...
