Pizza was excellent! Service was terrible. Only one other table when we sat down. Waited and waited for menus. Ordered salad to split and one pizza with different toppings on each side to split. Chef actually brought our pizzas. We looked and he said you ordered half and half right. We said yes. Just didn’t expect to be on 2 different pans. Actually delicious. Place started to fill up. Server never stopped back again. We flagged him down for take home boxes. We flagged him down again for a bill that never came. We went up to the counter while he tried to wait on too many people at the same time. We actually paid for 2 pizzas. Not how we ordered it. Too expensive for what it was. Won’t be back.

Went as a group of 7 and got multiple dishes to share. While I prefer NY or Sicilian style, the pizza here was phenomenal. We got a plain white, plain red, a red with mushrooms and peppers, and a red with sausage and mushrooms. We also got the house salad, arancini, and meatballs. Everything was cooked perfectly and delicious. The service was a little slow, but they were incredibly busy with takeout orders. Normally this is fine, but they only brought six plates and water glasses for the seven of us and it took a long time for them to bring one more of each. The music was also very loud and we were sat right under the speaker so it was hard to hear people when they were talking.

If I could rate this place 10 stars I would. Visiting Philly from Baltimore with another buddy who flew in from Seattle. Stopped in here as I’d been told it was the best pizza in Philadelphia and didn’t disappoint. Stopped in around 3pm and got a small red pizza with pepperoni sausage and olives. The man working was super friendly and you can tell he loves what he does. Pizza came out quickly and oh man. The crust has the perfect crunch, the flavor is unbelievable, just the right amount of grease, sauce, cheese and dough in each bite. Best pizza I’ve had in years. If you’re in Philadelphia you have to stop here. I will absolutely be back anytime I’m in the city!

This was my second time dining here, so obviously I went back for a reason.

I would like to preface this review by saying, I came in at 8:30 when they close at 9 so I can slightly understand why the staff may have been frustrated. However, I work in the service industry and have been waiting tables for years and am always happy to make those extra dollars from that last table that lingers in… so not sure why this experience was so horrible.

We were immediately greeted with hostility and frustration from the waitress who gave us mid service at best. We knew exactly what we wanted to order and got our food in fast as to best work with her since we knew we were being inconvenient for coming in late.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is definitely awkward, but I knew that going in. What I did not expect was the blasting of what I can best describe as “corny Netflix romcom tv show pop rap” music. The music was so loud that I got up and asked the waitress if she could turn it down. The chef responded to me with a happy, “I would love to do that for you”. He thankfully lowered the music, but then 5 minutes later he turned it up even louder than before.

We took this as our message to leave. So, we boxed our food and did just that.

While I would love to at least give Square Pie credit for their food, our Cesar salad was subpar and our Soppressata pizza was over salted and under cooked.

Was excited about our new potentially go-to neighborhood pizza spot, but will sadly never...

We walked in at 7pm on a Thurs unaware (due to poor research on our part) that they are currently operating as takeout only. The person working the register was super helpful in helping us choose an appropriate amount of food from the menu for the four of us. We ordered two salads, a large cheese pie, a small sopressata pie and a small mushroom & spinach pie and were told it would be ready in an hour. Popped over to the nearby New Wave Cafe for a drink and wings, then picked up our order just after 8pm, right on schedule.

Pies were excellent ... gorgeous crust, light and fluffy base ... similar to focaccia. Highly recommend a plain cheese pie ... the mozzarella is layered beneath the delicious sauce which is then topped with a dusting of Parmesan. Special toppings are icing on the cake. Salads were a nice option, if that's your thing too. Plenty of food for us, with some leftovers to fight over tomorrow morning! 😂

Service was warm & welcoming. Had a lovely time meeting the two people running this place. Definitely put it on your list if you're looking for Sicilian-style...
