My original post:
"This store used to be great for Record Store Day. I went in today after work, about 1pm. Asked what was available for RSD. I was shown a table which was being boxed up. I asked if anything else was available. They said yes. You have to tell us what you want. I asked to see what was left from Record Store Day. They said you have to tell us what you want, we already posted it online. I'm in the store wanting to browse what is available for Record Store Day. Which is the point of Record Store Day, to support small business. However, I wasn't allowed to see what was available. I had to go online. I was in the store with cash ready to buy RSD records, and then peruse other albums. I wanted to give this store money for records. Again, I was told everything was online, and I had to go online. Ludicrous. So I walked out of the store, extremely disappointed, which a few other people feeling the same way. The store's final words were, "We usually go all out for record store day, but not this year." This was the reason I went to this store. They used to be great. So.... I ended up going online.... As I was instructed by Vinyl Alter/Digital Underground which is allowed to buy Record Store Day albums, small businesses with a physical location (I'm saying they should be banned from future RSD releases). Again, that's the point of record store day, physical stores. I went online to Siren Records, which is far away from me, to purchase all the Records I wanted for Record Store Day. Because Vinyl Alter/Digital Unger ground wouldn't let me buy record store day records. Thanks Siren Records! Siren Records Rocks!"
(update) You responded to my post. Stating that I aim to harm small business. This absolutely is not the case. I attempted to spend money at your store to support small business. But you refused to let me see and know that what record store day records were available. (Are you selling these records at bloated prices online?) You stated you posted the releases online and I was not allowed to know what records you had available. You responded so callously.. in the future, I think "Record Store Day" should not allow you to...
Read moreI wasn't going to say anything. They have a great selection and are great on Record Store Day (historically speaking). I also love to support small business. Unfortunately, they always have an attitude when you go in. Their hours on Google state that they open at noon. My friend went for RSD at 2pm after he finished work at his office. They had already removed the RSD albums from the floor to I can only assume list them online for sale. He asked to view them as he was very excited to purchase several of them. The store denied him access and stated he'd have to enumerate the titles he had interest in for them to be pulled. The store then shamed him for showing up in the afternoon which I find ridiculous. He was a paying client who does not work M-F 9-5. I can't understand how they're in business if they'd treat their clientele this way. No matter how well they have executed on RSD in the past, I can't overlook this behavior. Respect matters.
To be clear, it shows a lack of concern on the part of ownership to not care about the customer experience of showing up in the early afternoon of RSD and blame the customer (a regular customer) for their unhappy experience of records not on the floor to be viewed and...
Read moreDigital Underground/Vinyl Altar/Dark Depths Games is the go-to place in Philly for any metal head or wargaming enthusiast. The vast range of metal vinyls and vinyls in general (video game/movie soundtracks, etc.) that they offer is sure to have you find one that you like, and if you don’t happen to find one, I have no doubt that the staff would either offer to order it for you, or offer some recommendations. The games store in the back, Dark Depths Games, is the first games store I went to in Philly, and has forever stayed my favorite. The wide selection of paints, models, and modeling materials/tools is always fun to browse, and with a discounted price on almost all Warhammer items is a great adage on top. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, DDG’s amazing staff can definitely help you. Either with similar material recommendations, or ordering what you’re looking for for you, usually at a cheaper price to boot! If you’re into painting miniatures, card games like Magic or Pokémon, definitely stop in and see what you like, and try to join their discord too, a great space for hobbyists and they’re always hosting monthly miniature painting challenges in the...
