11 Must-Try Thai Restaurants in Philadelphia and Its Suburbs [Part 2]

This place is difficult to review because the food is good and we have had consistently good meals when ordering delivery, which is why I am giving it three stars. Unfortunately the experience in the actual restaurant is quite terrible and I would not recommend physically going there. First, when we arrived to a totally empty restaurant (minus one couple dining) we were asked if we have a reservation. When we said "no" I was met with a "oh no...well, let me check.....". Then after a few minutes we were seated at a terrible table right in the way it the door (mind you it is snowing and cold at this time). We asked for a high chair for my daughter and we got one -the belt was completely broken (buckles missing, just tied together). We asked to a different chair, obviously. Then we were given different menus - I was interested in the skirt steak, by my husband's menu listed a strip steak. We asked which menu was correct - server said, "they're the same, we just have one type of steak" which is weird (these are obviously different types if cut). Now I realize that this is not a steak House, so I was not expecting to be amazed, but after I ordered I was told that neither one of the steaks was actually available but a different one for $2 more was available which is exactly the same but has a different sauce. Fine, I just want some red meat today, so I go for it. They didn't even ask "how would you like it cooked?" And it came out cold but "well done". The rest of the food was good. Unfortunately the service continued to suck. Dishes were just left piled up on the very small table, waters were not refilled, had to literally wave over to the two servers (who were on their phones and not coming by either of the two tables, see pictures) to ask for some water. The whole time it felt like we were a nuisance and interrupting text time. Oh, and none of the other tables ever got anyone seated in them so I really don't know why we weren't just seated in a normal location, and right away. Final verdict -i will keep ordering take out. I will not go here to dine again.

We're visiting from NY and wanted lunch at a spot close to the Art Museum. Trio was a great decision. Ive been to many thai spots and this one is in my top 3. The samosa appetizer was very delicious and that peanut sauce on the side elevated it to another level. In the picture is the drunken noodles with beef (level 4 spicy) and also steak w/potatoes. Both were insanely delicious. The staff is also very friendly. Highly recommend this place.

Warning: NOT vegan friendly at all! Just had the worst experience here with my party despite calling ahead and confirming vegan items were available instead was embarrassed having to deal with two teenage new wait staff with zero knowledge of the menu and a chef that doesn't speak English and all of which acted like we were aliens to even request clean wholesome food.

It was a 20min struggle to identify what could be prepared without animal contamination and it ended up being just 3-4 entrees after much back and forth. I confirmed 4 entrees were chosen yet were only served 3.. the cherry on top was that eventually we noticed the kitchen was being cleaned and closed as they forgot to finish serving our order... that's beyond incompetence.

After endless mishaps the waitstaff apologized for the hundredth time now except now for completely forgetting the additional orders while everyone's else meal was ruined in the freezing cold restaurant which has a lock on the thermostat.. I think that's how they sell you on hot beverages not sure because you will need tea to be warm in there.

They don't have a bathroom and instead direct you to the main building bathroom which is much nicer. Tables weren't cleaned and there was no condiment trays. Even after all this they made sure to add every last expense to the bill with 0 consideration of how bad a job they did when we could have just left 5 different times throughout!

When given a tip at counter they ignorantly placed the change back on the table not understanding what a tip is..

All-in-all very unprofessional and not a place to take a group if you want a reasonable experience. Needs new management desperately.

Restaurants that don't understand dietary preferences and allergies and can't even keep patrons warm shouldn't be in business in my opinion. The entire point of eating out instead of cooking if for the better experience and...

Ouch, bad service from start to finish mars a mediocre, at best, BYOB meal.

Things got off to a bad start when we were walking to the restaurant at 7:30 and got a call from the owner telling us our reservation was unacceptable. We used open table, that we got to from Trio's website, 8 hours before and somehow they did not see the reservation until the actual time of the reservation and they thought they gave our table away.

In the end we got seated quickly in a more than half empty restaurant.

I hoped that things would improve from there, but instead the went downhill. Seated at 7:40, apps ordered by 8:00; wrong apps delivered sloppily at 8:30, correct apps delivered at 9:05. Oh, the apps were soup and when ordered them we were told it was premade and no changes were possible; what takes 30 plus minutes to ladle soup into a bowl? I also want to point out that the wrong apps were delivered with half of the soup having spilled all over the plate underneath and onto the spring rolls on the other plate. The server still tried to place this mess on the table.

When our food finally came it was average at best. No special flavors or presentation in the food. I have had dishes as good from Trader Joe's frozen department. And those dishes were not as expensive and they did not take as long.

The final insult comes with your credit card returned to you with an IPad and the tip is suggested on the front screen in bold; if you want to tip at another level, you have to hit "another option" while the waiter hovers over you to see what you are tipping.

All in all, I am sorry I tried this place. I will not venture back. I recommend you spend your money at a place that has better food, better service, and an overall experience that would be more enjoyable. Philadelphia has so many excellent BYO restaurants, it is not worth your...
