Wirlybird Coffee - East Falls — Restaurant in Philadelphia

I heard they make ube lattes. Sold! As I was in a rush, I called and asked if I could get it to-go, for pickup. Stunned, she said "no," flatly. Shocked. I couldn't believe my ears - what kind of café/restaurant/coffee shop/eatery doesn't offer pickup in 2025?! Whatever, I was only 5 min's away, not a huge deal. I get there, order is made rather quickly (too quickly). The verdict?.... The latte was pretty bad. It's obvious they use powdered, FLAVORED "ube." This thing wasn't mixed well at all. I could taste the clumps. Further, ube has a vanilla, mildly sweet flavor. This was more bitter.

I also felt coldness from the baristas; as though I were inconveniencing them. Odd, there were only a few other patrons inside and they weren't making or placing other orders (in fact, they were just standing around when I arrived).

Very shocked at the (lack of) quality and the poor service.

Was happy to see a local place, highly rated (!) but only to leave feeling disappointed.. And out of over $7 for a crappy iced latte.

If you want a GENUINE, real, AUTHENTIC ube iced latte.. Check elsewhere (or, specifically: "Drip Vietnamese Café" in Chinatown)

Going to a brewery at 8 in the morning to grab terrific coffee - nothing better! The atmosphere of Wirlybird welcomes you immediately. The baristas are super friendly and the coffee (specifically americanos!) are delicious. It is a great place to go to socialize especially if you have people in your group who don’t drink - options of alcohol or coffee include everyone. Don't listen to Eric N who'd rather go to La Colombe than build a relationship with someone providing a service to them. For me, the baristas are always lovely and welcoming, remember me and my partner (and dog) every time. Great espresso machine creations and tasty matcha/chai too. It's not a chain tho so don't expect matching aprons and smiley faces, just nice folks and good reliable beverages first thing in the morning. I love the outdoor...
