On October 19th, my partner and I dined at Dough Bird to celebrate our 6 year anniversary. We live fairly close by and decided to finally give it a try after reading the many fantastic reviews. We arrived roughly around 7:45pm excited and hungry! We were immediately greeted and ushered to a booth near the center of the establishment. The energy of the restaurant appeared to be steady upon entry but also beginning to settle down just after the initial dinner rush. The seating was comfortable and weather seated at the bar, a high-top, table with wicker chairs, or the large plush booths the guests all seemed to be enjoying their time. The restaurant was dimly lit, giving off a warm fiery glow… Not too dark by any means and definitely bright enough to read the menu and enjoy the upscale-homey aesthetic. Within five-or-so minutes of reviewing the menu, our server greeted us and inquired if we had been in before. We explained it was our first time, to which she strongly recommended us to try the pizza and rotisserie chicken as that is what they are known for. We ordered two drinks and waters, along with the truffle mushroom cheese bread to begin our meal. There was a bit of a wait to completely receive the first portion of our order, which stretched over a 20 minute span of time. Our server approached again to take down our entrees. My partner selected the half serving of rotisserie chicken with chipotle barbecue sauce for dipping and the macaroni and cheese; I attempted to order the Salmon entree, however, our server informed us the salmon had be 86’d and that they also had run out of tomatoes. She apologized and expressed it had been a wild intense dinner shift. Without skipping a beat, I opted for the prime rib dinner. It was accompanied by a serving of as jus, a side of creamy horseradish sauce, and mashed potatoes. When the entrees eventually arrived, the side dishes were mistakenly served on the wrong plates. We simply ate our entrees and ate our sides from one another’s plates. The prime rib was spectacular! It was cooked just right, medium rare, tender, juicy, and delicious. My partner’s rotisserie chicken however, despite the wonderful flavor, was surprisingly and extremely dry. Both side dishes, although swapped, were rich, creamy, and tasty with a home cooked touch that could’ve come right from grandmas home. All in all, we chalked the experience up to being an off night for the restaurant but we are looking forward to giving it another go as this experience was 50/50 and we are hopeful it will be as good as the...
Read moreFirst time in this evening. No reservation, as my previous dinner idea went amiss.
Passed by plenty of times but finally decided to go here with my girlfriend.
As we arrived, i was confused at the host set up , but multiple employees asked if we had been helped or offered insight or information as to where to wait.
We were sat in a booth as it was later in the evening and the venue had enough space to allow it. This was nice as my girlfriend and i enjoy sitting next to each other as opposed from across.
We shared the Hummus , a half bird (which is menued as the Entree chicken for $21) , and the truffle mushroom pizza. We also ordered a side of the Mac n Cheese, and the chicken came with broccolini and mashed potatoes.
Everything was made to order - so if you’re super hungry order your sides to come out with your appetizers , as you’ll have time to pick while waiting for the main course. This isn’t a problem for me - as an ambiance like the one Dough Bird purveys is meant for communication, connection, and comfort.
Everything was also made to perfection. I mean holy shit every ounce of flavor in every individual item was amazingly unique, yet came together in a wonderful palette.
The gravy and mashed potatoes, sweet hickory flavor of the chicken, and delicate assortment of olive oils and spices accompanying the hummus left me wanting more after every bite.
Aside the food and the ambiance, the service and hospitality were exceptional. Ben, who had a shadow with him, displayed excellent knowledge of the menu as well as summer specials, and had a wonderfully upbeat personality. As a bartender myself, i usually sit at the bar because i gravitate towards bar service over the floor. But i’m super glad we had Ben as our server because he really rounded off the night in the right way. He was awesome.
Definitely made a lifetime customer out of us. I’d recommend stopping by, and while i haven’t had the entire menu; i can confidentially say everything has...
Read morePricing doesn’t match the type & quality of food. Guacamole is bland, tasteless, and definitely unlike any Guacamole I’ve ever had anywhere. Pimento Cheese was good, yet not worth $14 for this app. The Aviator Pizza is OK. Crust is good, however the rest could be done much better with attention to detail: less SALT (very salty) and more cheese evenly spread. Look at the photo, cheese in some spots and none in other places. I expect better quality for a $21 pizza. Vegan, Vegetarian Beware: very disappointing to watch the salad person using the same gloved hand to mix different salads with the ingredients and dressings (definitely not good for cross contamination). When I say the same hand, not talking about holding a spoon and mixing, I’m saying they used their gloved hand in the bowl grabbing the ingredients and mixing them. A vegan or vegetarian would be horrified to know the salad they chose was mixed with a hand that touched dairy and meats and now is mixing their salad. Second Visit tried the Ranch Chicken Salad Sandwich and was greatly disappointed. The Chicken was not flavorful at all and I expected a Chicken Salad Sandwich-thinking it would be mixed with a dressing, etc. The Hummus they claim is Lebanese is far from tasting like Lebanese. It’s not bad, yet not at all like Lebanese Hummus. It was also quite salty. Guess that’s their favorite spice—Salt! Service was better this time around.
Decent vibe. Service is quite slow, inattentive, unimpressive, and sad to say unfriendly, uncaring. Servers don’t seem to know what’s going on or have a good grasp of the menu and offerings, such as Happy Hour M-F 11-5. Managers will walk by you many times without speaking or asking if you need anything (especially when you’re looking around and at them like help me). Sad to say I will not return. It’s just not worth the time,...
