El Sazon Del Sur — Restaurant in Phoenix

Humble little cocina with amazing food at a great price. The dining area is crude and not much in terms of shelter from the heat.

But it has the genuine feeling of a community fixture, and the food is amazing.

I’ve only been twice, but both times I got amazing food at an amazing price. Everyone I interacted with was varying levels of helpful and friendly, but there was nothing to complain about, and they were very pleasant and helpful.

My second time around, I came to put in an order of ten tacos for myself and two family members. It was around 3:30pm, and it was an intensely hot day, even by Phoenix standards.

There only to be one person back in the kitchen, and they appeared to be using the mid afternoon lull to prepare food. The kitchen itself has AC, but it is old and not up to the task of battling all 115° that the day was throwing down.

It took some time before they came to get my order. They looked very tired and hot. My Spanish is very poor, and I got the impression that their English was perhaps not strong.

If that kind of customer service is going yo bother you, then just leave El Sazon Del Sur alone and leave it to people who can appreciate that some people have to work extra hard in extreme conditions to provide economically priced, absolutely delicious food for the people in their neighborhood.

The tacos were large and absolutely delicious. I wish I had more time to stay in town to try other dishes.

If you want authentic Mexican food this is one place to go.you can get 12 tamales for $10 and they are very good. I don't know if that's a great deal for tamales but it's a good meal and a half for me. Sure I 's better than the same old burgers and frys. All of the other menu items are excellent as well highly recommended it's really low key kind of a rough neighborhood but...

The food looks great but to seeing someone prepare food in these days with no gloves or mask makes me wonder how careful the food preparation is. The same person who took my payment made my food 🤔.... I expected her to put on gloves but that didn't happen so I just chalk it up as a loss took the food and gave it to a homeless person... message the owner hygiene is...
