UDATE 2025 - Highball Cocktail Bar in midtown Phoenix continues to solidify its place as one of the city’s premier cocktail destinations, combining cozy neighborhood charm with an elevated, award-winning cocktail program. Known for its welcoming atmosphere and exceptional hospitality, Highball attracts an eclectic mix of adventurous drinkers, industry professionals, and late-night cocktail enthusiasts. On this visit, we explored their latest inventive creations, including the Heart of Stone, a complex blend of Oaxacan mole-inspired flavors with sotol, tequila, whisky, and pasilla chile; the Monkey Business, a rich combination of bonded bourbon, dark Jamaican rum, Madeira, salted banana, and fermented cacao; and the Saturday Night Special, a smoky, layered mix featuring lapsang souchong-infused rye, bourbon, Scotch, and Palo Cortado sherry. Highball is officially my new favorite bar in Phoenix! The moment you walk in, you’re hit with a vibe that’s stylish, cozy, and electric all at once. It’s the kind of place that instantly makes you feel welcome and excited to be there.

The staff and bartenders are next-level—super friendly, professional, and clearly passionate about what they do. I especially want to shout out the amazing bartender from Natal, Brazil—he was not only incredibly skilled but also made the whole experience feel personal and memorable.

Now, let’s talk drinks—every cocktail I tried was a masterpiece. The flavors took me back to my travels around the world. Each drink was balanced, bold, and beautifully crafted.

Upon entering the door, I was greeted with excellent customer service and was sat at the bar. Rob, the bartender crafted two incredible cocktails. This bartender is a true artisan and very gifted in his industry. The cocktail pictured is called “Pink Your Poison” and it was absolutely fantastic. He then made me a “White Lotus” and it was the most aromatic and divine tasting cocktail I’ve ever had. This might be because I recently had several terribly crafted cocktails at a five star resort in Florida and have been pining for a bartender who knew what they were doing. Nonetheless, this place is an excellent choice for anyone in their 30s looking for a chill atmosphere and service from people who know how to provide service!
