Panera Bread — Restaurant in Phoenix

Very disappointed "again" today. It's not the first time but it maybe my last time, I came in mid morning and again there was no blueberry muffins as well several others missing. It's not hard to know that if you don't have the baked goods for the customer you missed a sale. My wife and I had to leave and go elsewhere to enjoy coffee and a mid morning snack. On a positive note - they did exchange those old dirty table tops with new ones.

UPDATE: 4/24/2019

Interestingly after a number of visits at this location and finding that they are sold out of muffins the manager told me it’s always a good idea to call ahead in the morning and that she would set aside whatever I wanted. Then later midmorning when arriving I would be able to enjoy the muffins.

This morning I called at 8:15am and told ‘em I’d be there about 10:30~11:00am for coffee and pickup the muffins that they would set aside. When I called at 8:15am they told me that they were already OUT OF blueberry muffins.

Seems that something is wrong! If you have customers who want a specific item you need to bake enough of them to meet that demand or have customers turned away. I honestly DON’T know why I ever stop...

Update: I had taken a break from Panera due to my orders being wrong multiple times. Decided to order breakfast this morning 1/19/25 from my usual location on Cactus Rd. I ordered a plain bagel, not sliced, not toasted with cream cheese on the side. I wasn't planning on eating it right away and when I did go to eat it about 15 minutes later there is a sliced partially toasted bagel which was cold now. No cream cheese. Funny thing is I had debated between Panera and Einstein's. Previously post: I realize the Cactus Rd location hasn't been open that long so hopefully it gets better. I was so excited but so far not impressed. I have no real complaint about the food it's the rest. I ordered online earlier today. 3rd time they didn't include the extra roll I ordered. It was caught by me last time but I didn't check today. The person who usually checks the orders and puts them on the shelf wasn't there. This is usually my go to Panera location. I’ve never had a problem here before. Today was probably the worst interaction I’ve encountered. I placed an order on the mobile app at 7:38am and went through the drive through to pick it up. I was the only car and yet it still took them over 20 minutes to complete my order. I even got the text saying it was ready for pick up and still no one was at the window to give it to me. Looked like they were just kids goofing off in the kitchen. I got my order at 8:05. I literally ordered a bagel and salad. I usually order in the mornings and head to work since it’s fast. Not only was it really slow, but they made it late to work. Not to mention when my food was ready, the Panera employee open the window handed it to me and shut the window ASAP. He said nothing and was pretty rude and unprofessional. Not sure what was going on this morning but it’s pretty disappointing given that I come here often and never had a bad experience with Panera at all.
