VFW "themed" BBQ joint. The things that stick out most about this place was the staff & what I took as a genuine appreciation. The half dozen employees (Andreana & Stella are the 2 names I remembered) my family & I interacted with all seemed to enjoy being at work. They were all kind, helpful, communicative, easy to understand & went beyond expectations. This is a tell tale sign of a great onsite manager & company culture overall. They help make the restaurant environment welcoming & set the time that they want you in there enjoying your experience. We had two 2 meat plates: both sausages (original & jalapeno cheddar) "wet" brisket & pulled pork. Both sausages were excellent. The jalapeno were not overly hot, just the right amount to cater to the flavor. The pulled pork was very good & the brisket was good. We added 3 sides: Mac & cheese, green beans & baked beans. The acorn in the green beans added a great spring flavor. The baked beans had a sweet flavor forward BBQ sauce as the base, which we liked. The Maggie's Mac & cheese tasted and texture was homemade, making it a level above most. The meal came with cornbread that was good. Every table (we got ours Togo) had their variety light of BBQ sauces. They have something for everyone & 2-3 for most. The sauces stretch from vinegar based to sweet, savory, smokey, sweet & tangy. This was our first time eating at a Mission restaurant & at the PV location. We will be adding it into our rotation. It's worth giving it a try. I appreciated that they also have a "Veteran Parking Spot". My grandfather, father, uncle & more all served for many years & it is...

As someone born and raised in Alabama—where BBQ is practically a religion—moving to Arizona was a blessing in so many ways: the sunshine, the mountains, the community. But for years, I’ve been homesick for one thing that always hit closest to home—real Southern barbecue. I’m talking Big Bob Gibson’s, Corky’s-level BBQ. For the longest time, nothing out here came close.

Then I found Mission BBQ by PV Mall, and I swear, my whole relationship with Arizona food changed.

From the first bite, I knew this place wasn’t just another chain throwing sauce on meat and calling it BBQ. The brisket was smoky and tender, the pulled pork had that perfect Carolina-style tang, and the ribs—good Lord—the ribs fell off the bone like they knew what I needed before I did.

But it doesn’t stop there. The sides are on point—creamy mac and cheese, tangy slaw, smoky baked beans, and cornbread that tastes like it was made in someone's grandma’s kitchen. And don’t even get me started on the desserts. That banana pudding? It’ll transport you straight to a front porch in the South, y’all.

What I also love is the location—super easy to get to, but more importantly, the staff treats you like family. Friendly, fast, and passionate about their food.

Mission BBQ has made my life in Arizona feel complete. It’s not just good for here—it’s good, period. Honestly, it gives even the best of Alabama a run for its money, and that’s saying something coming from someone who grew up on BBQ legends.

So if you’re from the South and missing home—or just someone who appreciates damn good barbecue—go to Mission. You...

Very friendly staff, attentive to dining room. If your not aware (I was not until I was in the middle of it) at noon they will play the national anthem and most everybody stood up to respect the flag. Love the patriotism, just kind of came out of nowhere mid conversation. So be ready if there at noon (even a table tent card explaining would probably go a long way for awareness, especially if first time or if not there at noon to experience, there is a story here just not aware of it, they do have a mission theme) . stand up and enjoy the freedom we have to enjoy a lunch.

Food was good, decent portion for the price, everybody would love great value in BBQ, but BBQ is always going to be price you want it you have to pay for it.

Lots of sauce and condiment options, though my personal preference is Good BBQ should not require a lot of sauce. This was a good BBQ not amazing not the best I have had but for a shop in a new upcoming revitalized shopping center it was good. Hope they make it and keep it affordable. Sides were ok. now Cornbread did need sauce, it was dry and cold.

Environment was clean, got busy at lunch kind of small one large eating dining room, got the job done but certainly not intimate or cozy. Grab a seat, eat and move on.

Ideal for a group up to 4 maybe 6 - if they were busy you would be hard pressed to find a larger table as you could not move tables around. Outside seating would be great in...

As a proud Texas southern belle visiting Paradise Valley, Mission BBQ stole my heart—and my appetite! The place is beautifully decorated to honor first responders and all branches of the military, including a flag in the window representing the owners’ four children who actively serve. From the warm welcome by Terri, David, and Nelly to the amazing service from Ahmad and Courtney, every staff member made me feel like family. The food? Phenomenal. I had the chopped beef sandwich with Smokey Mountain and KC Classic sauces mixed, fresh-cut fries, and a bottled Big Red. On my second visit (yes, I went back!), I enjoyed the juicy Darn Good Turkey, green beans, coleslaw, and a birthday treat—red velvet cake! The pride, passion, and patriotism at Mission BBQ are unmatched. I usually don’t dine at the same place twice while traveling, but Mission BBQ changed that. I wholeheartedly open the doors of Texas and say—come on over and bless us with your Q! Mission BBQ has earned a permanent spot on my travel list whenever I return to Paradise Valley. Y’all don’t walk—run to this place. You’ll leave with a full belly and a fuller heart.

Decided to check this place out based on good reviews, and my conclusion is a lot of people haven't had good barbecue. The "moist" brisket (the fact that it said "moist" and not "point" or "fatty" seems like a red flag) was as dry as any flat I've had, and there was no real smoke flavor outside of the sad little bark. It was either cooked way too long or way too fast. The pulled pork was a sad brown color and tasted like it came out of a crock pot. Unbelievably, the best item I had was the green beans. This was barely a step above Dickey's; there's a reason they stress the sauce so much. They're also tiny little portions for what you're paying, probably a half pound total on the two meat sampler. Besides that, the faux-patriotic, talking about how much they love veterans, thing rubs me the wrong way a little... I feel like people who do this always vote to send them off to pointless wars and take away their benefits as a reward. Capitalizing on it feels especially wrong. I guess it's a good thing the bbq sucks.
