One of the worst dining experiences I have had in a long time. The place reeks of old frying oil. The tables and chairs are very close together and claustrophobic (and cracked and in bad shape.) There is a sign on the counter that says they PREFER CASH, but then told me to pay AFTER I eat (since I was dining in.) They were not honest by telling me their credit card machine was down, but instead trapped me there silently until I paid, only to learn I had to pay cash. I explained I didn't have enough cash on me to pay for the entire meal and none of my friends had any cash. They recommended a Wells Fargo ATM across the street (a six lane, busy road), even though there are two ATMs in the same shopping center we were already in. One is an ATM in the Fry's grocery store and the other at the Credit West bank in the same parking lot as the restaurant. It seems possible that the ATM's are hacked and by telling you to use one, they are potentially collaborating with ATM credit card skimmers installed on the nearby ATMs. Needless to say, the whole thing was sketchy and I did NOT agree to pay cash or was warned that I could NOT pay for my meal with my credit card.
Debit cards (used at ATMs) do not have the same consumer protections and the first ATM I tried (TruWest Credit Union) accepted any PIN I entered and then failed the transaction. So, my fears were growing. I ended up going inside of the Fry's grocery store, using the ATM in there to get out $20 and had to pay a $3.50 transaction fee. Needless to say, instead of a $7 tip, I paid the ATM transaction fee and consider the entire inconvenience of blind-siding me AFTER I ATE with a cash demand. Therefore, I paid what I owed and not a penny more and my clothes still stink like an old deep fryer from sitting in that place eating.
They boast of an A rating regarding the Maricopa County health inspection, however, that rating is from 2019! (it appears the health inspection hasn't been since. No way it could get an A rating with the poor ventilation, hence they leave the front door wide open.)
Food was also weird. The chicken on the pizza appears to be breaded. Typically, chicken on a pizza does not look like chorizo or a crouton. No one at the table knew what they hard brown squares were on our pizza. They have tiny little napkins, so when eating wings, you're going to need a LOT OF THEM!
Furthermore, I was never offered a receipt and I have no way to confirm if my order total was accurate. The soda machine is behind the counter, so you cannot fill your own drink and no lids are available unless you specifically ask for one.
Never again. No idea why anyone eats here. Very sketchy. Prices were NOT cheap and the food is not outstanding.
I have never been here before. No idea why I (or anyone else) would ever go back.
The staff is friendly. That's the only good thing I can say. Now I have to watch my debit card like a hawk to see if I see my PIN has been stolen......
Read moreI have been going to this awesome little pizza joint for over 20 years. It might not be as long as some others who have reviewed this restaurant but I think it is enough to say I have eaten here a few times before.
The first thing I started eating was very simple, pizza and wings. It really is a great combo and I have never been disappointed. Cheese to the works will surely satisfy. My wife likes getting sausage and mushroom while I am just fine with a pepperoni topping. I have to say whatever we get I really don't mind because it will be good. The wings are just as good as the pizza. They are well cooked, the sauces are graded just right between the desired flavor and heat and just like the pizza they have never disappointed. Don't question if you should get them, just how many.
After a few years of pizza and wings I looked up one day while at the counter and noticed they had a menu! On that menu is everything you can think of in a pizzeria style restaurant. Subs, salads, calzones, fried cheese sticks, and the list goes on. I will only touch on a couple of items. The next thing I really was addicted to was the steak and cheese. I started eating them with mushrooms and peppers but over time I ended eating them with just the steak and cheese. Hot, delicious steak, perfectly melted cheese all stuffed into wonderful bread which is then toasted at the end. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water. I also have been known to get a calzone from time to time. I have had them all and each is about the size of a couch cushion. I have never been able to finish one in a single sitting but the flavor really tempts you to try. No bother; take it home and finish it when your appetite returns. Reheating is a sin but not taking the rest home to finish it is a bigger sin.
I would be remiss if I didn't talk about the family that runs the restaurant. Having gone here for over 15 years I have grown with them almost. I have literally seen their children grow up and now a few of them can be seen behind the counter giving you the same great service I have known all this time. Those who go enough know that you get a little extra conversation when you walk through the doors. I try and understand everything they say but I rarely get everything between the thick accents.
Overall a great place to go get your meal. Lunch or dinner, alone or with the family, you will get great food. I have a warning though; you may not want to go to Pizza by Napoli if you live far away. I moved away and now have to drive 20 miles to get my old favorite. Small...
Read moreTheir pizza is great and the staff are mostly very nice, honest people. Had one bad experience recently, though, which was very disappointing. Visited with my husband and he ordered spaghetti with marinara; I ordered some garlic knots with marinara on the side to dip in. Not long after food was served, husband found meat in his spaghetti (we are both vegetarians). I politely asked them for the meal to be remade, and initially the gentlemen were all very apologetic and kind about it. Then, however, the older man that seems to run the place came out and berated us for not specifying no meat in the marinara. It’s never been my experience that a marinara sauce would come with meat; I would expect that in something like bolognese. As I’d visited this restaurant many times prior, growing up having come here with my family, I didn’t want to cause a stir so I explained awkwardly to the man that we just don’t eat meat and then I even accepted his blame being put on us for not specifying. He then said that the marinara always has meat. I felt sick and asked if the pizza sauce does, to which he glared at me and said “Of course not.” So I asked if we could be served food with that sauce. Nope- he wouldn’t remake it. My husband was so upset (and sick, he hasn’t had meat in about 17 years and it makes him physically ill). We left and I was so humiliated for having been the one to suggest to him that we eat there :(
Ultimately I still believe that the majority of the staff are very kind, helpful, and genuine guys and the pizza is fantastic. I still grab a slice sometimes on my lunch breaks. I’m just really sad that this one awful experience ruined the place for us and I can’t eat there with my...
