I'm a mixed woman and I've been to this Press a few times now. I got in at 6:30am and I was the second person in the building. I got my coffee, walked upstairs and clocked in to do work. I'd been there for about an hour and noticed an older man sit right behind me. I thought at the time he was rather close being there weren't many of us in the building. He got up multiple times and one time in particular was gone for a while, though, he left his ipad..
During this time two women came up the stairs (I was facing them) and one of the women came up to me and asked if I had been talking to anyone on the phone. I told her I hadn't as I had been working since I got in. She goes on to tell me someone called the store and filed a complaint on me due to making (and loudly) racial slurs, using profanity, and speaking very derogatory comments all around race to the point where this individual couldn't focus because I was being so loud and offensive..
I was shocked. I had to double check she was certain to be talking to the right person. I said "They were talking about me? Orange hoodie, and a scarf? They described me?!" And she said yes. To give you context on what I was wearing: I was wearing a silk scarf as it moisturizes my curly hair, orange fitness hoodie and camouflage pants.
In that moment of reflecting on "my outward appearance" I told her I had to be getting racially targeted because they lied so badly on my name. Mind you, there wasn't anyone else brown in the store, nor, was anyone wearing anything suggesting their race/culture aside from me.
At that point I got very upset knowing someone would go out of there way to get me kicked out due to my race. I showed the manager my computer screen and what I had been working on and, the funniest part, I was playing "532 hz" on youtube the entire time. (No lyrics, no beats, no bass, nothing) just a very subtle melody in my ears just to have someone say I'm being blatantly offensive all because they don't like the way I look.
I don't know if the man behind me filed a complaint from the bathroom, or if management made it up to get me out of there because I didn't look like their ideal customer but I feel the situation was handled VERY poorly and all she said was "We just have to make sure our customers are listened to and feel okay.."
"HUH?!" I told you someone is lying due to my race and that's it? Did you even question them and the accuracy or assume it must be true? I understand she was doing her job and I'm not upset about that but I felt unheard, definitely not seen and most importantly not safe. Especially after. I was left feeling absolutely devastated and could choose to leave and let them win or stay and make my presence known. I stayed an extra hour over my intended time to leave just so those offended by my appearance understand I have a place to be there too no matter what I'm wearing or look like.
I won't be going back to this location or any Press for that matter and if you need to be dressed in business wear in order to not be targeted then Press is absolutely not the place for young minority creatives/ business...

I went to enjoy a cup of coffee with friends at Press. When I arrived the front door was locked. I checked the back door and that door was also locked. The back door had hours posted stating they close at 7PM.
It was 3:45PM and I could see customers inside enjoying their coffee so I knocked on the front window and front door. I figured with COVID restrictions they were limiting customers in the store.
A server who was mopping the floor answered the door and yelling out the door yelled we are closed. Asked server what their hours were and he said the close at 4PM. Explained it is 3:45 and hours on side door state the close at 7PM. Suggested they post their new hours as others are likely going to want to be served thinking they are opened. Server stated whatever maybe we should and slammed the door shut.
I wrote to management and no response. Best of luck in the future but your server needs to go or at least get basic customer service training. Other great coffee places nearby so I guess I will be visiting them soon... Again consider posting your new hours and don't close early, 3:45PM...

The upstairs area is ideal for getting work doneâquiet, comfortable, and free from distractions. The overall ambiance is calm, with low background music that makes it easy to have conversations or focus on work. Even the outdoor patio maintains a peaceful atmosphere, as patrons keep their voices at a comfortable level.
As for the drinks, I tried the nitro cold brew, which was smooth and delicious, though it had little to no foam on topsomething I wasnât used to but still enjoyed. The peanut butter shaker was a standoutâa cold brew mixed with 16g of protein, making for a delicious and energizing drink. I also had a chai latte with a shot of espresso, which was rich, creamy, and perfect for a chilly day.
The cafĂŠ is exceptionally clean, and the staff is friendly and engaging. I had a great conversation with one of the baristas, which added to the welcoming atmosphere. Itâs a social space but never overwhelmingâjust the right balance of energy and calm. Overall, a fantastic coffee shop that Iâll...
