I've been meaning to write a review for these guys for a long time. It is hands-down the restaurant I frequent the most. THE. FOOD. IS. ABSOLUTE. PERFECTION. This chef KNOWS what he's doing. I always start out with the Burrata Caprese because when you sink your fork into it, it just pours open! So cool & refreshing, especially now during the summer! Gotta get the meatballs too usually for an app. Their marinara is perfect. Growing up in the northeast with great Italian food, this is as close as you can get out here. I just saw that they were on TV twice and a foodie blog too and they deserve it. Their pizzas are good for one but also to split if you get an entrée too. Pizza is to die for, the Americana is our favorite but the other ones are good too. They have an entire new menu with something called Sfizini, which is Chef Rocco's newest creation. Basically hollowed out bread with options of various fillings; it's picture-worthy and original. Their Lasagna and Pollo Parmagiana are killer, but there're also now TWO new lobster dishes, Lobster Ravioli and Lobster Mac! Both too good for words. I love this place because the portions are good and Italian food heats up really well the next day (or for a midnight snack 😂) so we always look forward to the leftovers! We haven't made it to dessert yet, so I can't comment on that, but their Italian wines are awesome and we count that as our dessert, LOL! I'm so excited this place is getting the respect it deserves. They only opened last September so to see such well-deserved success so quickly is pretty cool (I live nearby so I've paid attention from the start). Definitely good for a romantic evening or family night; staff are friendly and accommodating. Been meaning to leave this review for awhile. Also the name, "Sfizio" is actually an Italian expression but you have to go to find out! Hooray for good Italian food...

Tried this local place after catching it on that Mark Tarbell local restaurant review show.
Ordered a negroni which was out together quite nicely - not too sweet.
The food was as good as described. Started with some arancini that had a touch of tasty bolognese inside: Nice! The lasagna was delicious with a very meaty bolognese. The short rib rigatoni was outstanding. The gnocchi had amazing sauce, but our daughter’s seemed like the dumplings spent just a couple minutes too long in the water (not quite that great texture).
A couple funny note: bit into a bay leaf in my rigotoni and the pure cold butter taste came through very heavily in the butter cream for our limoncello cake desert. Both “mistakes” were clear indications though that the food was made here, today - not via clsco or other food service.
On the downside, the seating was really tight in the restaurant and our four top was a but undersized. Combined with the large serving plates, you felt like something was always falling off the edge of the table.
Service, though very pleasant and competent, was noticeably rushed. This was not the easy going, enjoy-a-glass-of-wine pace you might think a local italian place might offer, but felt more like a modern , efficient-table-turn-focused chain experience (think BJs across the street.
All in all, definitely fans of the food. However, the atmosphere/feel and pace of service are probably not a good match...
Read moreThis is such a hidden gem in north Scottsdale. I loved my visit here. This is the place for any type of meal (date, get together, solo, etc).
The food was hands down some of the best Italian I’ve had in the Phoenix area. Drinks - Negroni: Was good! Tasted a bit sweet (Cannot remember the name): Take on a lemon drop! It had Tanqueray, Limoncello, and lemon juice and it was a nice refreshing cocktail.
Food - Chef’s Board: Filled with 4 types of meat, 1 cheese, walnuts, marinated red peppers, olives, and grilled bread. I enjoyed the selection but felt it could have had another cheese on it to make it well rounded. Calabrese Pizza: So. Good! I loved the crust itself (chewy, crispy yet soft) and the touch of honey to make it the perfect combo of savory & sweet. Gnocchi Sorrentina: The pillowy texture of this pasta was a delight! I got it with sausage and really enjoyed the combination together. Cannoli: This was the perfect ending to our evening! The cannolis were not too sweet and had that perfect touch of Nutella filling.
The ambiance was dark inside but had a romantic vibe to it. The open kitchen to look in the back was a great touch to the atmosphere seeing the chefs in action!
Hannah did an excellent job servicing our table! She was so friendly and checked in every so often. The rest of the staff was also on top of their service game and we didn’t even have to ask for a refill in water, they...
