Salt and Sugar Massage & Head Spa — Local services in Scottsdale

Lana is AMAZING. I wish I lived in Arizona so I could see her regularly! I got the Relax in Peace package: Full body massage (combo Thai & Swedish), hot stone add on, and head spa. This was my first time doing a Thai massage, hot stone massage, and head spa. We did the massage first (about 75 mins). I loved all the stretching and pressure points, especially when she walked on my back, butt, and thighs. It’s definitely a much more intense massage than what I’m used to, but she really got in there deep and got spots that my regular massage therapist doesn’t. The hot stones - freaking LOVED it. Lana went slow and let the heat sink in. It was absolutely lovely. Then I moved to the other table for the head spa (also about 75 mins). You lie on your back and she applies different products to your scalp and hair, and does multiple head massages. She also did a facial, lip mask, and gua sha (I didn’t know what this was… It’s like a little rollie thing with a cold stone that she rolls/massages your face and neck with. Also feels amazing.). She did some stretching with the head spa that opened up my neck and lower back. The head spa included waaaaaaay more services than other places I had looked at. Or other places would have all the things, but it cost twice as much. She uses quality hair and skin products and they all smell so freaking good. My scalp has never felt this clean and moisturized, my face this smooth and moisturized, and my whole body this loose and relaxed. The whole experience was amazing, Lana is amazing, and I wish I lived in Arizona so I could see her regularly. The building is kind of tucked away but it’s really nice, very clean, there are other people who rent rooms for different things like hair, nails, facials, etc. but it feels very private because there is just a shared hallway but everyone has their own room. The only parts of the experience that I didn’t love was when the water was spraying on my hairline (for some reason that really tickled!) and when the neighbor in the room next door was talking really loudly with someone. Otherwise, I absolutely loved everything and was more relaxed than I have ever been. I got the package since I was visiting, but the head spa alone would be great as a monthly self-care routine. I will definitely see Lana any time I come...

Things I don't understand in life: How this place has a perfect five star rating. This was one of the absolute worst experiences of my life. To detail, in an effort to save you the time, money and energy should you be so tempted:

Dirty hairbrushes (both hair and grime, as they clearly weren't sanitized between clients) The cloths used for the facial were dipped in the same water as my hair, then applied to my face, and rinsed with my hair so my hair had skincare products in it (I washed my face the moment I got home and still broke out) An absolute PULVERIZING of my scalp and neck that still has me in pain because it screwed up my muscle balance The water halo that makes this so appealing when you see head spa videos was on for maybe two minutes max (and it really was enjoyable for those two minutes, but only those two minutes) A hand and arm massage that had the service provider digging into my forearms. I was wincing in pain and pulling away from her (she didn't get the message and just kept going) A tangly mess of hair once we were done that had her RIPPING through my hair with abandon to detangle, as she clearly does not have appropriate hair care training Being shamed for both being single and enjoying it Lack of rough blow dry as promised in the service menu Tipping on their app started at 25% (I'm a solid 20% tipper, but I wanted to leave 10-15% for this mess) When my hair did finally dry at home, it was greasy in clumps and dry and frail in other places (not to mention I could tell there was breakage from the brushing)

I very highly suspect that the people working are not properly credentialed for the services they are providing, and I'll be reporting them to the state boards of both Cosmetology and Massage. I get this makes me sound like a Karen, but the amount of physical pain I have been in since this service is important to share so no one else makes the mistake I did; if it wouldn't have caused any physical dysfunction, I'd have left it alone and just told friends not to go there. I would very much like a refund, and I'd also like to be reimbursed for the $700 I've had to spend to try and get the muscles of my head and neck corrected (which has made this a nearly $900 service that I did NOT want to pay for). OUTSTANDING!! My family and I traveled to AZ for a family trip and the day before our trip ended, we found this head spa place and we booked it right away! We have been wanting to come and try a head spa place for a while but it's been difficult to find one where we live so knowing that there was one that was literally 15 minutes away from our airbnb was perfect!

I booked the Relax & Go Head Massage which consists of 35 minutes for $70.00 USD and LOVED every minute of it!

First she looked at my scalp and used the microscope to show me how my scalp looked like. Technically, the service I purchased didn't include the microscopic view on my scalp but Lana was sweet enough to do it because she really wanted me to be able to see the difference of my scalp (before & after).

She washed my hair, massaged my neck, my arms, my traps, massaged the muscles along my shoulder blades, my scalp, and she even massaged a little bit of my forehead. It was heavenly!! I have always had a lot of tension on my upper back, my neck, forehead, and my scalp so having someone with strong hands who can apply pressure to those areas was SPLENDID!! Also, she continued to ask if the pressure that she was applying to my neck/arms was okay? She also checked with me to see if the water used to rinse my hair was too hot/too cold? I REALLY appreciate it when they ask!

I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND coming to Lana if you are looking for a head spa experience! I'm really glad we found her! Next time, if we come back to AZ, I'll be sure to find Lana again for the longer head spa service! Thanks Lana!

The room, ambiance, aroma, and decor of the entire space is very relaxing and beautiful! Plus, you have total privacy so although you're not completely naked, it felt nice to be in a space that was peaceful, super clean, and nice. And the warm mattress where we lie down on felt super nice in my back and my entire body! The service was outstanding! You won't regret it!!
