Let me start by saying I rarely write reviews. The experience has to be very special in order to persuade me to write a review. Today is the first official day Taco Viva is open, and the line was out the door. They are still working on getting their drive through set up so the parking lot was mostly full. I was greeted at the door by one of the owners who told me he previously lived Mexico and wanted to bring authentic Mexican flavors to the USA. He described their concept as an indoor taco stand. You order your food at the cashier stand, then hand your order to the first available person behind the counter. They prepare your order in front of you asking what toppings you would like on your entree. The most popular toppings are “con todo”, meaning everthing. The food on the menu was nothing short of authentic. I ordered two vampiros which are toasted corn tortillas covered in melted cheese. I had one al pastor and one carne asada vampiro. They were both topped with onions, cilantro, guacamole, and salsa. (Con todo) The depth of flavor in the al pastor couldn’t have been better. I could taste the savory cubes of pork with a bit of char from the open flame, small pieces of pineapple, and just the right amount of spice. The carne asada was very tender, and had a great smokey flavor as if it had just come off of someone’s backyard bbq grill. I had the agua de Jamaica (hibiscus water) which was slightly too sweet for my pallet. However, I think most drinks are overly sweetened, so take that with a grain of salt. Overall, the atmosphere was friendly, and the food was authentic and delicious. I will definitely be back. Btw, only the owner and cashier spoke English making the experience...

If you've ever found yourself wandering the culinary desert of Phoenix, yearning for a taco experience that transcends mere sustenance and enters the realm of gastronomic nirvana, then my friend, let me guide you to the pearly gates of Taco Viva, located at the divine intersection of 28th St and Indian School.
First things first: the Al Pastor Vampiro Con Todo. This isn't just a taco; it's an epic tale of flavor, a Shakespearean drama of succulent pork, crispy edges, and a symphony of spices. Every bite is a soliloquy of deliciousness that left me contemplating the meaning of life--and whether I could justify ordering another one.
Next up, the Carne Asada Quesadilla. Imagine if a quesadilla and a steak had a love child, and that love child was raised by gourmet angels. The carne asada was so tender and flavorful that I briefly considered proposing marriage to it. We could've been happy together.
And let's talk about those Chips and Salsa. The salsa has a kick that's just enough to remind you you're alive, but not so much that you need to call the fire department. It's the perfect balance, like walking a tightrope between taste-bud bliss and spicy adventure.
Wash it all down with their Horchata, a creamy, cinnamon-y dream that's like a hug for your soul. If liquid comfort food were a thing, this would be it. I'm convinced the recipe was handed down by a benevolent food deity.
In summary, if you haven't yet experienced Taco Viva, do yourself a favor and make it your next culinary pilgrimage. Your taste buds will thank you, your heart will sing, and you'll wonder how you ever lived without this taco haven in your life. Viva...
Read moreTaco Viva, a great new option in Phoenix. My kid invited me for lunch on Friday and I have seen many vids about this taco spot but never tried it before so let's see how our lunch outing went... The place was packed for lunch, but still the place was clean, open and the food came out quick.
They have 4 taqueros who meet u to make sure your order is right, they confirm and make the tacos in front of you and que taquero was great, thank you.
THE FOOD, u gotta try your tacos with 🌽 tortillas, this is the only way to go, it made a huge difference in the flavor. Even though they make all tortillas in house, the 🌽 just tasted fresh, soft and warm. THE MEATS, I had 3 tacos, mushrooms, asada and pastor. Nothing special about asada tbh, maybe a 6.5, and I think Ta'Carbon is a much better option. Mushroom taco was great for those who vegetarian or vegan food, it was flavorful and the corn tortilla w the salsas made the flavor pop! I will say 8. Pastor, this one was the main one, the meat was fresh, tender and juicy, I just feel disappointed I didn't get it in a corn tortilla. This one is a strong 9. THE BALD TRUTH, tacos were smaller than Ta'Carbon and had less meat than taco boyz, but they are flavorful, just skip the carne asada, you can also get pollo asado which looked great and they have a great variety of options which makes it a strong option for everyone's taste buds. Prices are avg around $3.50 per taco, they also offer, Vampiros which is kind of like a hard flat taco/tostada and other great options. So what are you thinking 🤔🤔 should u...
