I was jonsing for some hibatchi fried rice and most places were closed at the time I wanted it. Well...lemme tell u, I stumbled upon Sumo Hiachi Express and allllmost didn’t even go becuz the hours on their website showed they were closed but the google hours showed they were open, so I called and low and behold they were open! This place is an absolute diamond in the rough! OMG!! The food was ABSOLUTELY delicious!!! I only ordered the fried rice and some fried dumplings...but man, I can’t WAIT to go back and try something else!!! The gentleman at the counter, Jason I believe, was so friendly and when I asked if I could modify the rice, he happily replied, “absolutely, everything is customized, so however u want it!” Whhhhat? OMG, seriously?? YESSSS! Their prices are beyond reasonable and their portions are definitely bigger than you think! Don’t be deceived by the size of those little brown boxes, they definitely hold more than you think! 😁. Their menu is small but mighty!!! Perfect amount of offerings for anyone wanting an awesome, quick, inexpensive hibachi meal. I’m so excited to have found this place and will definitely be visiting it on a very...
Read moreBad news first - we ordered veggie plate and the noodles was bland and burnt, the rice was either old or over cooked and the veggies were not cooked at all it basically was raw. The veggie rolls not pictures were also overcooked and the inside was mush. There was no distinguishable veggie in it. We didn't finish eating the veggie plate because even with yum yum sauce it did not take away crunchy bits and burnt taste
Now for better news
My wife really like the edamame and said it had a good flavor. The Tempura Shrimp was delicious and whatever the sauce was made it even better. Wish i got more shrimp though.. you pay $7 for 5 shrimp and for the amount of shrimp i would want it would end up being well over $20. Even though veggie rolls were a little overdone it still had a nice taste to it and likely would have been even better if it wasn't mashed veggies.
If you come here just know the Apps are a hit yet expensive and the veggie plate is a hit or miss.
As always follow me for more updates on restaurants around Florida and we usually go to the same place at least 1 more time so stay tuned for an...
Read moreThis was my first and last time here I spent $28 for trio meats, steak, shrimp and chicken. The steak was tuff, Chicken didn't have enough teriyaki sauce neither did the shrimps. They gave me mainly carrots for my vegetables, maybe one or two broccoli no cabbage. The rice was hard or old didn't taste like fried rice only thing that tasted decent was the noodles. They give you a good portion but I prefer fresh food any day, my food tasted like it was sitting out for awhile especially the rice. I wouldn't call this little spot a hibachi because you can't even see what's being cooked or what they're doing...
