Having lived in Italy for several years I was so excited to finally have and taste real Italian made pizza again. Unfortunately, while the pizza was quite good the customer service was horrible. I had heard that the customer service was an issue from several people, but seeing as they were new you always want to give a new place the benefit of the doubt. With this being said, I have never been more disappointed in a restaurant before. We went to Margaux's for dinner with friends and family from out of town in a party of approximately 6 people. We were seated and while the drink order was taken, a few other parties ranging from 4-8 people were sat around us. After the beverages were served our food order was taken and placed in the kitchen. One person was served at our table 10 minutes before the next. After those 10 minutes three other people were served from our party leaving two of us without food. 10 minutes go by, 15 minutes go by, 30 minutes go by and two of us still do not have our food while THE OTHER parties around us are being served their food whom ordered AFTER our party. 45 minutes go by and still none of the staff seemed to notice or care that the entire table had an empty plate in front of them except for two people at our table. When looking for the pizzas the manager had a horrible attitude, never apologized and she never asked why we were so concerned about the pizzas. The two pizza orders were never placed, and instead of honesty excuses were made. On top of that, when these pizzas were FINALLY made one pizza was made incorrectly with a known allergy. The staff said they do not make their pizzas with that ingredient; however, the human body's immune system does not lie and neither do our taste buds. Instead of simply comping that pizza and giving a replacement of something else, they CHARGED us for the replacement food and the other forgotten pizza was left full price. After having to wait for over an hour after the rest of our party was served, and watching all the other smaller and larger groups get served at the same time, there was no true want to show a mistake was made, and no true apology was given. You would think being such a new restaurant you would go above and beyond for your customers. Unfortunately, none of us will be back...
Read moreTrust the poor reviews regarding customer service and do yourself a favor and skip this place. I made reservations for last Thursday evening around 7 for my sister and I. We arrived around 6:45 and were seated at a high top table inside the restaurant. After putting in our drink orders with our server we both decided to get the same thing, The Sicilian pizza with no olives. We also ordered one house salad as an appetizer which wasn’t brought out until AFTER we received the pizzas. About 35-40 minutes after placing our order a woman from the kitchen (not our original server) finally brings out both pizzas but one has olives…although we both asked for no olives. The woman apologizes and takes it back to the kitchen…we’re assuming, to make another pizza. About 15-20 minutes go by and our original server brings back the SAME pizza WITH OLIVES and says “you can just pick them off. Is that ok?”. Honestly, we were so shocked by that type of response that we just said “fine” and she leaves the pizza at our table. We should not have to “pick off” food items that we did not order. What if we were allergic?? We leave the pizza untouched and the woman from the kitchen returns and we tell her they brought us back the same pizza. She again apologizes and says “I’ll make this right”. A few minutes go by and we’re over it at this point and ready to go. Our server returns and we just ask for the pizza with olives to be taken off the bill and tell her we’re ready for the check. We paid our bill and left. I understand that due to COVID many restaurants are short staffed and/or training new staff and having to make adjustments but we were extremely disappointed in the lack of customer service that was provided to us. The staff did not seem like they were communicating with one server saying that she would make it right and the other bringing out the same pizza with the olives. I will also note that I observed the owner make rounds to numerous tables and he never once checked on us, even despite the order mishap. Needless to say, we...
Read moreThe owner, Kevin knows his stuff. The restaurant and wine shop itself is beautiful and the atmosphere is very homey and inviting.
Service is superb!
Wine selection is varied and neatly displayed. This establishment even offers flights of wine. Cool concept.
The missing star, giving Margaux’s a 4 out of 5, is due to the food.
The “St. Louis” style pizza is awkward to say the very least, as the cheese sticks to the the top of your mouth and gums when eating it. It was like eating plastic-like poor quality American Cheese on pizza. Not a fan, and I neither will be ordering it again nor recommending anyone to try it. It was hard to get down.
Besides the weird cheese, the rest of the ingredients they use are of high quality, fresh, and hand-chosen by the owner himself which I love.
The tomato sauce on the pizzas could be more flavorful and less like it got poured on the pizza straight out of a can.
The salads were alright. Small portions-the house salad used iceberg lettuce which didn’t impress me- and lacked some flavor.
Pros Vs. Cons:
Pros: The atmosphere was clean, inviting, comfortable. The service was superb. The menu offered many options for this type of establishment. The prices are average. Fresh ingredients. Lots of parking in rear of establishment. Cute downtown and main street restaurant, wine shop and market with unique items. Convenient location and menu.
Cons: Taste of food needs improvement. Their signature “St. Louis” style pizza was not a prize. Would recommend not ordering it.
Overall, I will be back to give this place a...
